How much will the black market for drugs, human trafficking, etc be impacted? I would assume the prices will go up significantly due to it being more difficult to smuggle anything in.

I hope the wall is high enough to use as a drive-in movie

you don't actually believe this shite do you?

What percentage of the drugs you think are getting smuggled by some wet back carrying a backpack 40 miles across a desert compared coming through the border crossings in basic commerce and other ways? I'd say a small percentage

The drugs come in by water.

I believe it won't be impacted hardly at all because I think the wall won't do anything to curb these things. They'll find other ways to get that stuff into the country.

If we don't de-incentivize coming here or smuggling drugs, we'll just see a rise in prices

I realize there are many different methods of smuggling but I would assume the price would go up if any one of the methods is made more difficult.

Most of it is not smuggled in backpacks. You can't move much cargo on foot. It's coming in via ships, primarily.

The wall isn't going to fix it. What we need is better tech on the border (drones with infrared, vibration sensors, who knows what), more border agents, and an E-Verify system whereby employers are required to verify the legal status of workers (this has to be extremely easy and cheap to use, don't want to burden the employer too much but they need to do it), and actually enforce our damned laws.

A wall is fine along with all of that, but we need that more.

No, I dont think it will be affected at all, human trafficking yes because you cant weld humans into the frame of a car. Also when you have the capacity to send 10-15 or even 30 tractor trailers as mules per day, you expect to lose one or two, yet the majority get in, and I am just talking about the main border crossings.

The company I work for was owned by a Mexican Parent Co. Everything coming in to the US from there and all employees of the company had to thoroughly vetted and documented. We did alright. This was ofc enacted by the Company to reduce potential lawsuits.

Want to stop drug trafficking? Then attack the source which is the BUYERS.

Yeah that's brilliant. Only reason we've failed is that we haven't gone after them enough, it's time we double sentences given out to drug users just to let them know we mean business.

black market for drugs
Could be all but eliminated tomorrow if we'd just legalize, regulate and tax.

human trafficking
Is mostly just hookers and pimps. See above for solution.

But I'll admit...

To be fair, the murder on sight policy in the Philippians seems to be diminishing usage
