Just wondering where people draw the line between admiring an actor's talents even though you may disagree with their political views.

I think Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo Dicaprio may currently be the two best actors/actresses of our time (arguable), but their over the top bat shite crazy hypocritical political views make it difficult to admit it.

Are you able to differentiate their talents from their views?

The same applies to musicians as well. Most of my favorite bands lean way left. I'm usually able to separate their talent from views, but lately it seems they are making it more and more difficult.

Just wondering if others feel the same way.

I am fine with others having different opinions than me. What I don't like is Matt Damon treating me like a fool bc I don't agree with his batshit politics

I personally find it hard to believe that anyone would let someone like that influence their views in life. Especially someone you don't know on a personal level like a celebrity or athlete. I also find it distasteful for them to take their celebrity and use it to try and influence people. Most of these celebrities don't even have high school educations.

Thats my point. Would you still pay to watch his movies?

A- He is a great on-screen talent.
B - He's a freaking bat shite crazy leftist hypocrite

I love Rage Against The Machine, but honestly could not be more opposed to their hypocritical political beliefs.

In your world, who has crossed the line? Who do you refuse to support even though they have a lot of talent?

For me its Clooney. Hate that dude and won't watch anything he's in.

I don't go looking for actors political views or nonsense beliefs. I think that Sean Penn, Clooney and Matt Damon are all equally obnoxious and out in front using their star power to promote their message. That said, yeah I can separate the two. Each actor has had some very good movies, and some that are just a steaming pile of shite.

A perfect example of what I'm talking about.
I despise Sean Penn's views, but I love him as an actor and I'm able to separate the two.

Others, not so much.

Used to, but with their blatant hypocrisy and stupidity...it's getting tough. Trump...you have a case for , but anyone who believes Hillary Rodham Clinton would have been good for this country, doesn't know shite about politics and should STFU...and who are these people?...genuinely?

Unfortunately, I just find most of them to be unwatchable once you hear the totally bat shite crazy stuff come out of their mouths. Also, it's the tone, disrespect and arrogance perspective from which they deliver their thoughts.

I like Samuel L. Jackson even though his "black arse" (his words not mine) is supposed to be in South Africa because Trump is indeed, President. I guess some are so out there that it could influence whether or not I would go see a movie they were in but I don't go to enough (or even watch on Netflix) movies so that I can pick and choose what I watch. I would imagine I know very little about the political views of the people I watch.

I think it's a scam to continue to sell movie tickets to their main demographic, younger people, who typically have more progressive views. Too much group think for it to be organic and not ordained.

Off topic but definitely arguable.

Who's your top 5 "current" actors and actresses?

This last year has driven us to board games and reality TV shows with crazy ordinary no names.

Actors should keep their mouth shut about their political views!

Since Daniel Day-Lewis is now retired I'll refrain from pointing out the glaring omission.

Amen brother. I'd probably watch more movies if these clowns kept their yap shut.

Unfortunately I think the NFL is now experiencing the same problem.

I'll watch a movie on HBO, but I won't go to the theater. I like a lot of crazy musicians too, but I won't buy anything from them just like I wouldn't support the owner of a hardware store that was a self righteous prick.

Some I can separate, some I can't.

Very few fall into the "I can't watch their stuff any more."

Ashley Judd and Sean Penn are in that category.
