This is exactly how free speech/counter-speech is supposed to work in this country. Nobody is silencing the opposition, nobody is violently protesting, nobody is showing up and making a scene at either event.

I have no idea why so many people here and on Texags are bothered by this.

Because they see a counter movement at a university and without reading the article they flip out and call SJW. Some of the comments on this thread have actually been supportive. You can tell those people actually read the damn article. It isn't about telling Spencer he can't be there or even that he shouldn't. It is about coming together as a community and rejecting his ideas. If I was still a student, I would be there to stand with my peers to make sure everyone knows that A&M does not support this trash of a group that is the alt right.

It seems like this is exactly what they are doing. Holding a separate event across town from this speaking event. People are then able to chose which to attend. Sounds ideal and just like I would hope a University would operate. only thing better would be to offer a civil round-table where ideas can be openly and honestly shared, discussed and debated. Sadly, we are not ready for that ATM.
