It only did three very specific things.

- repeals the 2.3% medical device tax

- eliminates the penalty for not having coverage

- eliminates the employer mandate for providing insurance if you have over 50 employees

Nothing else.

That means your insurance next year will be cheaper, than it would have been otherwise, because this failed.

Keeping insurance costs down by requiring people to carry insurance is about as anti-feeedom as it gets.

How would anyone think this is a bad thing from a freedom perspective?

Worth it.

On a relative basis, he's right. On an absolute basis, costs are obviously going up regardless.

Nice edit.

If this bill would have become law your insurance would have gone up more than it will under current law. You can't remove healthly people from the insurance pool and not have prices go up for everyone else.

You are willing to pay 20% more for insurance in the name of "freedom"?

So, instead of be rammed in the arse with a Coke can, it will be a Red Bull can instead?

premiums wont go down when they get something to pass. what will happen is insurance policy's will become available that are cheaper but much more gutted than what you currently have. book it.

If you were forced to choose one or the other, wouldn't you vote for Red Bull?

McCain voted for Red Bull.

So instead we've done nothing, made zero changes, and have made it clear that the hope of healthcare reform is slim.

You edited what I said to make it look like I'm claiming insurance prices will be cheaper next year. They won't be. But they would have gone up more if the Skinny Repeal became law.

Nice. You make an entirely unprovable statement and then get butt hurt about it.

I didn't edit what you wrote. I just left off the part that can't be proven.

The "skinny" was a horrible plan and would've put Rs on the hook for a massive insurance bail out in a few years. McCain thought he was sticking it to Trump but he saved the Rs from their own dumbassery. Also, you want more Trump, because this is how you get more Trump. '18 will see lots of people challenged by opponents breathing ACA repeal fire and brimstone.

Removing the mandate increases prices for everyone who keeps insurance. It's basic math.

So am I right to assume you would have wanted things to be worse next year just for the sake of passing SOMETHING?
