quote:

when you have people who don't know much about science denying it and rising to power, it's a recipe for the complete dismantling of our democracy.

quote:

DeGrasse Tyson highlights some of the points he made in his three-part series of conversations with Bill Moyers in 2014, which explored a variety of topics, including the beauty of the scientific method in the search for truth, the value of innovations in science and technology in the ascendency of America, and how political debates about established science are delaying critical conversations about the best ways to combat climate change.

“You have not fully expressed your power as a voter until you have a scientific literacy in topics that matter for future political issues,” he told Bill. “This requires a base level of science literacy that I don’t think we have achieved yet.”

:Inb4whataboutbiologydeniers?:
He is talking about all deniers

Oh and if Tucker had some real balls, he would invite Neil on his show instead of Nye

Oh well he says we have to believe him then who are we to question him? After all he can read and understand the holy books and we can't.

We just have to believe and have faith!

The cool thing about the English language is that when you understand the definition for two words you can understand what those two words imply when put together.

Might require +90IQ to understand though

He's talking about people who deny basic scientific fact. But that doesn't fit with your agenda now does it?

Why don't liberals ever talk about the science behind abortion? Why is the extermination of a living fetus strictly an emotional and political issue for them? What's more "science-y" than a living organism?

Oh sure let's completly ignore the potential health problems a woman may face or how she might have been raped. Nah let's pretend like we give two shits about a fetus because it gives us a warm fuzzy

kind of like the people who denied science when it was scientific fact that the earth was flat or when it was scientific fact that the atom was the smallest thing?

Scientific facts depend on human thinking. Humans have proven nothing as well as how stupid they are.

Smart people sure do say some dumb shite. I'd love to see the unintended consequences of his scientific literacy test.

I don't want to ignore either. Both are factors to consider.

What else you got?

You have to understand those base definitions first. Perversions of words to fit your ideals isn't the way language is suppose to work.

What, like fat in the diet causes heart disease so low fat diets are recommended, but then someone wasn't satisfied with that "fact" and did further research and found that high carbs and elevated inflammation in the vessels were the more likely culprit?

Consensus in real science should always be questioned. That questioner is not a "science denier", that is a scientist.

I don't deny science.

I deny some of what is being passed off as 'science' these days.
