quote:

federal agent “organized a sting operation involving six armed officers to forcibly seize a Lucite paperweight containing a moon rock the size of a rice grain from an elderly grandmother,”

Moon rock, sure. NASA is just scared someone would have that rock examined and find out it was really from the desert near the film studio where they filmed the moon landing.

What the hell is that? Is that weed? It's been like 30 years since I've done any of that. Due to obvious genetic engineering, it's hard to recognize.

Well, I have a memento that came down from the International Space Station. Technically, it belongs to the federal government, but I can hold it on their behalf and even gift it to someone else. I cannot, however, offer it for sale, or schedule it in a will since it's not technically my property. It's against federal law to do so.

However, what they did to that old woman is ridiculous.

Correct.

Especially since she called NASA up and said "Hey, I'd like to sell this. Is that legal? If so, can you help?"

At that point the professional, reasonable, and courteous response should be "Mam, the moon speck was given to your husband by NASA, it remains property of the US Government. You can keep it for your own mementos or donate it to Smithsonian, but you are prohibited from selling it."

Not..."Yeah, hang on I'll put you in contact with a broker."

Grandpa was program manager of spacelab... i have some solid mid 80's drawings and notes on what eventually became the iss. Everyone flocked to the posters and flight patches, i grabbed all the handwritten notebooks i could

NASA, Never A Straight Answer...

My favorite is when a guy was doing a flip "in outer space/zero g" during an interview and his wire broke...

shite is funny as hell

Have you ever looked at this debacle?
The warped, uneven panels above the astronaut to the right...this ripple happens on pressurized aircraft where there are overpressure leaks, like a B-52, BUT not on a fully sealed compartment like an airliner

The supposed 10,000 pound thrust rocket thrusters (look up how big a 10,000 thruster looks like)

Clearly the deflector cloths below the thrusters will vector that kind of power away from scorching the craft, right?

Random shite laying in the soil, when every single action they took was diagramed out by Houston

Randomly located clamps holding foil on the legs, meanwhile parts of the legs are exposed

Terrible engineering
