no, everything else ignored

the artic has no land mass the ice there is floating ice and has already displaced its volume of water. makes no difference if the artic melts

Again..where are you getting the 1.5 degree increase in 100 years?

if you have to ask this you shouldnt EVER comment on global warming threads ever again.

Since you are simply ignorant, ill dumb it down for you...climatologist average temperature reading over timescales to see trends in whatever it is they are measuring, temp, co2, water vapor etc, over say 20yrs 40yrs 100 yrs.

we currently have accurate global temps going back to mid 1800s so they can average all of those readings and get a somewhat accurate measurement of the global mean temperature over that entire time frame.

the deviation from that average is important because it indicates a warming trend SINCE, AGAIN, ITS AVERAGES.

THE CURRENT GLOBAL TEMPERATURE AVERAGE IS 1.5 DEGREES ABOVE THE REFERENCE OF THE LAST 100 YEARS AVERAGE.

Also, is that uptick in temps an increase in daytime temps or less of a cooling in nighttime temps?

you cannot be that stupid. well maybe you can. why dont you look it up.

Nice dodge.

The question was direct and simple.

What are you basing your claim that the temp has risen 1.5 degrees in the last 100 years?

What????

what dont you understand,

ice IS water, it floats in water only because its less dense but it displaces the volume of water it occupys, therefore if ice melts that is floating it doesnt increase the level of whatever its floating in.

to clarify, there is no land mass on which ice is resting in the artic, it is wide open ocean with floating ice....

if Greenlands' land bound ice were to melt sea levels would rise, floating ice doesnt lead to increase sea levels when melted.

I have. You claim to have also. Again...the question is direct and simple.

Is the slight uptick in temps based more around an increase in daytime temps, or a change in nighttime temps?

The implications would paint a different picture, don't you agree?

so let me just try to understand you level of stupidity...you think climatologist that organize and collect the temperature data of 10's of thousands of collection points around the globe dont have a methodology to account for the 24hr cycle and the accompanying statistical noise.

please just stop posting on global warming threads you dont have the game for it.

The worst may be the Corps of Engineers purposely diverting the Mississippi River and not allowing it to follow where it naturally wants to flow. All because they want to save the New Orleans economy.

How is this any different than every major developer in the US moving/removing/altering streams because they want 1-2 extra lots in their subdivision?

Do you think that changing agricultural patterns and Wildlife agencies feeding wild game may have affected the wildfowl migrations.

Its a fact.

My B.

In a thread like this you have to assume everyone is on the offensive.

CruiserHog and Dale51: what are your professions?

If you two can't agree on a single thing, how are the mass of Americans supposed to figure this out? That is why this issue is easy to politicize.

Do both of you agree that if the ice in the northern hemisphere melts, not an inch of US land will be affected?

We had a very recent one. People seem to forget about it.

We do not have accurate temperature readings going back to the 1800s. That's an absolutely ridiculous statement.

Retired from building trades. What is your question supposed to be in reference to?? Just an odd question??

We two have nothing to do with Americans being able to figure anything out.

My position is in favor of actually applying scientific methodology to--not only compiling data-- but to the analysis of the data compiled. Those are two separate skill sets.

It seem Cruiser is more inclined towards confirmation bias advocacy.

Floating ice will not raise water levels (what is the point of that question supposed to be???)
