it's a god damn shame.
But we have to feed the forever war.

all volunteer force. we lose more Americans to drunk driving car accidents in 1 year than the entire 16 year war on terror. shut the frick up and stop trying to pretend like youre a good person by attempting to making decisions for others.

False justification.
Afghans had ZERO to do with 9/11.
WE are over there for two reasons:
A) The Military Industrial Complex
B) Opium.

To be fare for a good portion of those 16 years we didnt fight a war we fought a BS political battle while supposed allies plotted against us.

Slow your roll on zero to do with 9/11

If we had a draft and the nay sayers were in it, they might have just a wee bit more credibility...

Because they are an all volunteer force? Their deaths mean nothing to you? I buried my son 4 years ago. If you ever buried a son or daughter, perhaps you would feel differently. Losing even one life over there is one too many.

Not up to the military to decide where they fight. I pay taxes, I vote, I will not shite up or support more wasting of money or lives. frick off.

How else can they justify spying on the American people?

Maybe the kids aren't looking for some ideological adventure that will make the world better, maybe they sign up because Kansas is boring

way to put words in my mouth dumbass. I said if you want to be concerned about pointless loss of life there are plenty of bigger things that nobody ever complains about.
I developed a rare condition you only get in the middle east while I was there. Id do it again.
You know how many times i heard my junior marines whining they didn't get any action on a MEU, how many times they'd openly hope for some shite to pop off somewhere so they can go fight? EVERY day.
I say its 16 years of brave frickin kids signing up knowing and hoping they get to go frick up our enemies, whether or not you think we should be there means jack shite to me or them.

We pay taxes dumb frick. We have a say where our money goes.
Maybe if they did, they wouldn't still be there dying in the sand for literally NOTHING.

I'm sorry for your loss and can't imagine what that must be like.
I also don't want to imagine because I have a son in the service.
I do understand that my son's commitment is not without certain risk.
Those who do not have 'skin in the game' (which is one element that a draft could provide) are not in the most credible position to pontificate, that's just my opinoin...

unless its about a cause you believe in. so its about saving money? where are your threads and posts advocating the cut back of welfare programs?
you think you should get a vote every 4 years on which countries we should or shouldn't invade or occupy?

Seriously, I'd be sad if a vet said anything different. I'm glad we have people who have a burning desire to frick up our enemies.
Just know your words are about as large a piece of evidence as there could be for the need for civilian control of the military.

Sorry about your son. I hope he wasn't lost to this war.
I've been over a couple of times. I've buried a couple of my Soldiers. Not from Direct Action; suicides.
I've personally addressed their families each time. It was the hardest thing I've done so far in my life.
If we are to remain at war I only hope I get to continue to serve next to brave soldiers like them. It was an honor.
While they may have lost their battles to their demons, they still served with great honor and dignity.
