After the Auburn game, a bunch of us were in the crowd behind the ESPN Gameday set cheering for our Tigers and giving Lee Corso a hard time. Coach Miles was interviewed by the Gameday crew and then took the time to greet the LSU fans behind the set by passing along in front of the barricade and giving us high fives.

I was down at the end of the line with my 7 year old son who had been cheering his heart out for the Tigers all night. When Coach Miles got to my son, he stopped, looked him in the eye, and said something encouraging (I couldn't hear him). He was greeting everyone, but he spent a little extra time with my son. My boy was ecstatic. I thought that was a pretty cool thing to do after such a huge win - Coach Miles didn't even have to come back there, but it just seemed like he knew what it meant to a 7 year old Tiger fan to meet him and he wasn't too busy to focus on him.

If that is how he treats his players, it is no wonder they play their hearts out for him. It also gave me some insight into why he is such a great recruiter.

Just thought the Rant would enjoy hearing about the human side of Coach Miles when the cameras are not rolling.

He's a class act who LOVES his job. I don't think I've ever seen someone so happy to, not only be a college coach, but a coach at LSU.

Other coaches in the country should take note of how he interacts with the fans.

Did you ask your son what Coach Miles said to him?

It was really loud and I don't think he could hear him either. It was really short, too. I just noticed that he paused a little longer with my son than everyone else.

All my boy could say was, "I gave Coach Miles a Five!"

He's been telling everyone!

Hmmm. Yeah, I guess I'm kind of an idiot. I didn't even think to ask him! I guess I was as excited as he was that we got to give Coach Miles a high five after beating Auburn AT Auburn behind the ESPN Gameday set. That experience ranks right up there for me. Like I said, it was really short and I saw his mouth moving, but couldn't hear anything. I guess I just assumed my son couln't either.

Should I wake my son now or wait till the morning to ask?

Before it's all said and done, Miles will go down as the greatest coach in LSU history. He totally won me over last year on the day of the SEC c'ship game. Where he goes, I follow since then.

Everytime I hear or read a story like this I get pissed that I was such an idiot when he was hired. I thought he was horrible choice. I was not a Les Fan. Just shows what I know. The guy has done awesome. We were lucky NS left when he did.

a couple of months ago one of the guys here was at a softball game across the river. Miles was there sitting in a lawn chair watching one of his kids play. our guy didn't really want to bother him but his four year old daughter ran up to Miles. Dude said Miles picked her up, put her on his lap and shot the breeze with them for like fifteen minutes, like they were best friends. no wonder people love this guy.

He said, "Your mom's pretty hot and I have a big set of balls, kid."

Might be a good idea to edit your post now and remove your email address now that you have made contact.
