The best thing about all of this is that Miles, unlike most coaches in America (all others in the SEC) cut one of the most talented QB's off the team before the season started. Of course, no one is thinking about it right now, but if his last name was Saban, Meyer, or Richt, do you really think Perilloux would be playing somewhere else.

So the Little Tiger didn't tell you what Les said? I bet you're a little jealous too!

Honestly, I think Richt would have cut him. He cut his top corner this season with no hesitation.

Well maybe Richt, but Meyer would have increased his salary.

I say we nominate this thread "Thread of the Year". Yes, victories, SEC Championships, and National Championships are what we all want and the program strives for, but when you step back and reflect on the impact Coach Miles had not only on AlaTiger as a Dad but his son, you have to say to youself "that's what it is really all about".
He is touching peoples lives in a very positive way. You can't ask for more than that from any person that's in a position like Coach Miles.

One thing that I've noticed bout CM is that when he & the players gather in the corner of the endzone to sing with the fans, he really gets into it. Every picture that I've seen of him there he is worked up & letting it all hang out, pure emotion. There mite be a few other coaches out there who would react that way, but not too many come to mind. He obviously loves his job.

My buddy posted this in another thread yesterday. Miles is a good guy. He was stopping to shake hands while he was being rushed into the cop car to go over to the gameday set.

One of the better moments was seeing Les go through his State Trooper escort to give Ciron Black's mom a hug and kiss and talk to her for a few minutes. He did this with a lot of the parents. It was sort of a touching moment, when you realize that at the end of the day they're still kids whose momma can't wait to see them after the game. The respect and admiration for Les should run deep in our fan base because I'm pretty sure we've never had a better human being at the helm.

Did he tell your son that he was a "quality individual" and that he was "damn proud to have him as a fan of his damn fine football team"?

If his last name was Saban, Perrilloux would be playing at Texas.

Coach Miles' hat must sit up so high to make room for the halo underneath.

We were at Chili's off College about 6 days after Gustav and the credit card machine was down. Somehow we didn't realize this until AFTER we had eaten (even though upon further review every door possible had a sign stating that fact). We were kind of there talking it over with the manager when we heard somebody say "no problem guys, it's taken care of".
We looked around just in time to see Les Miles slipping out the back door with a goofy grin on his face. Later that night he happened upon my buddy changing a flat tire off of Acadian - stopped and gave him a hand as well.

I've personally seem Miles do something like that too....A couple of years ago, I was at that TigerTour deal or whatever it's called when the coaches/admin come through areas of the country with a bunch of alumni (this one was in Dallas), and when the program wrapped up, CLM was signing autographs and taking pictures....his "handlers" kept telling him "coach, we've gotta go, come on, etc.".....Miles never looked up....just kept signing, talking specifically to the kids, not rushing them through their moment of awe, and it was completely obvious that those kids were very important to Miles....when LSU hired him, I wasn't real sure about how his teams would progress....Although I was never a Miles basher, I honestly wasn't that confident after the AZ State/Tennessee games early in his career at LSU....Looking back now though, I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone as capable in the following areas...
1. Hiring/retaining awesome coaching personnel
2. Letting coaches coach, players play, and fans support
3. Making scheme adjustments based both on his own team's personnel, and on what the other team is giving him
4. Being able to feel the pulse of a game and the demeanor of his team (see speech prior to SECCG last year).
Sometimes, he comes across as goofy. Sometime his hat looks funny. He used the wrong headset for Tiger Stadium one time. Let's give him a pass on those things. It's hard to get gear selection right when you've got to worry about you're going to carry around a sack the size of his.

Okay, these stories are starting to get a little ridiculous. I'm hearing rumors that Miles rubbed his tears on Beckwith's knee yesterday and he started running windsprints immediately afterwards.

I've always enjoyed the feel of hanging out with coach Miles. I was playing golf one time and I hit a wicked slice. I looked down at my driver and realized I bent the head on it. I was distressed, when just over the horizon I could see the silhouette of a giant hat approaching. I couldn't believe my eyes when I realied in was Coach Miles.
He took the driver out of my hand, took of his hat and placed the broken head under the hat. He turned away and mumbled a few words in French which I couldn't understand.
He then pulled the driver back out of the hat and lo and behold it was fixed! Good as new. I turned thank him but he was already gone.
I then took another swing and slammed a 340 yard drive right down the middle of the fairway.
That Coach Miles is truly something else. And I'm telling you something fellas==there's some real magic under that hat.
