How much did it cost to run your Generator

and was it worth it?

Debating on buying one next spring, but not sure it it will be worth it to me as you have to change the oil a lot, keep gas for it and store it.

I don't care how much it costs, if I'm not in PA school next year and I"m still down here, I'm getting one. I am one sick puppy with no AC/moving air... not chancing going through that again.

I ran mine for 12-14 hrs /day and used about 6 gallonsof gas and changed oil at 50 hours so on day 4. So about 25 gals gas and 1 qt oil about 100 bucks. I am installing 16k standby so I can rn everything and will cost about 38/day in natural gas.

i have a 20KW diesel that has a 45 gallon tank. it burns about a .5 gallon an hour, depending on the load. i figured diesel would be kinda of hit or miss around my house after the hurricane i bought a 55 gallon drum about a week before the storm. that cost me about 250 dollars. I changed the oil the other day and that wasnt but about 40 bucks

our 6100 watt ran all day every day and went through less than 10 gallons a day, so ~35/day split between 3 roommates aint too shabby... probably about as much as our regular energy bill after those fricking fuel adjustments

Aren't there some that can hook up to the gas line of your home? That would be nice, assuming you have gas after a storm...

Very well worth it. Only ran about $30 to $35 a day for a 15KW using natural gas. Automatic transfer switch. Generator cuts on automatically when power goes down. Oil change required every year or 100 hours of run time.

It's the money you spend hooking this up that can get kind of costly, but I think it's still worth it. You buy a generator and hope you never need to use it. But it's there in case you do need it.

How much did this unit cost and to install? Does it run your whole house. How big is your house and AC unit?

check at lowes they have several units there ranging from about 1800.00 up to 5000.00.in my opinion its worth it.Especially as much as the power goes down here. But like it was mentioned earlier, its the cost of the transfer swith and hook-up that gets the price up.I dont have to worry because i can do all the wiring myself.
