I know I'm not the only person who thinks that the sports talk show has lost something. It used to have good info about the saints. Now it's like they think of their ideas for the show on the ride there. I mean yesterday it was a 3 hour show about nicknames. C'mon. Well my boss emailed the show about the lack in quality and this is what he got back:
--------------------------------------------------
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately your comments are in the minority. The response to Deke and Bobby has been overwhelmingly positive with listeners and advertisers alike. Whenever a change is made it takes awhile for people to get comfortable with the new changes – (same thing happened with Spud, Garland and with Bobby Hebert) I’m sure in time you will begin to appreciate Deke’s knowledge of sports and his passion for it. Of course when it comes to Saints training camp the whole crew, Bobby, Deke, Gus and Hokie will be covering it so we will have many opinions and eyes to evaluate what you guys will see on the field in the fall.

Thanks again for your comments and opinions, I do value hearing them. And thanks again for caring enough about WWL and Sports talk to share them with me.

My question to everyone is are we really the only people who think the show sucks now?

Even ignoring the quality of the hosts, the show has too many commercials and most of the callers are morons.

im not a fan of bobby hebert. with that said to me, the main issue is with the idiot callers that call in. they say some pretty ridiculous shite.

It is kind of a down time of the year for pro football.

I did like the response however, "you'll learn to love it" is basically what they say.

I think the lack of quality callers can be directly attributed to the poor quality of the show. Informed sports fans won't waste their time listening, much less calling in.

I'm not going to wait on hold for 30 minutes at the off-chance that Deke will interrupt me, change the subject, or call me a squirrel after I hang up.

WWL sucks lately.

the sports talk radio fans in NO are ignorant....most of that is to blame on wwl and the lack of options and the enormous lack of advertising $ and listeners who would support true sports talk radio

what is shitty is most of NO thinks wwl is actually sports talk radio in the early evenings

ETA- you should have asked how deke go that gig having NEVER covered a professional team for a media outlet...other than amite football, this clown never covered the hornets, the saints, tulane, lsu, the shell shockers, the voodoo...NOBODY, BUT b/c the right people like him he gets a gig he is ENTIRELY underqualified and undertalented for

I have never been a big WWL sports listener, but I don't listen to WWL at all anymore. They are turning into Air America during the day and the Stooges in the evening. The station manager needs to get the axe.

I've been a huge WWL listener. Especially since the storm. It just seems that no work goes into the preparation for the show anymore. The topics are weak at best.

i kind of look at it like waffle house and getting a steak at denny's or applebee's

are their steaks shitty..yeah, but the custimers that they get that order steaks don't care and think they're great, SO if you can keep on providing a shitty product but your customers like it, why change

That was an amazingly douchebaggy response.

"Look - just listen to Big Chief (who is only in this slot because we had no one else to fill it because we had to can Kenny W.) and you'll learn to love it like everything else we shove down your throats!"

That kind of attitude is deadly. I love how they were all about giving you more "live, local" talk when they lost Rush, and then have their GM going "Well, that wasn't our decision to lose Rush."

1 minute of talk, 4 minutes of commercials.. i end up just changing the channel.
I actually don't mind Bobby and Deke, but the commercials I just can't take.

Says it all. I like Hebert but shite it's nothing but commercials. I wish 1280 had a better signal.
