Do not read, Hodors....

The entire R+L= Jon Snow is pretty much agreed upon. Howland Reed is the other who knew, the only survivor of that epic scene. But, from other readings and show scenes, I venture to say there are two others. Aemon Targaryen and Benjen Stark.

Thoughts? Again, stay out non-book readers.

Do you figure that Ned told Benjen about Jon then Benjen told Maester Aemon?

If that is the case then when did Benjen share that with Aemon?

Did this warrant another thread, Glass?

Yes. Jon going to the wall, had to be special for Aemon.

Maybe they did... Maybe they didn't. One is dead and the other has been missing for years.

Now we need a Hodor thread and Middle Ground thread on the topic.

I have assumed nobody else knows, but it's possible. I wouldn't expect Aemon to know, though. Did you have reason to believe otherwise?

Hell, we may need multiple book reader threads. One for people who bitch about every change, and one for the rest of us.

Not only have I always believed that someone has to know, but I believe someone has to have proof. Jon being a Targ has to come into play at some point if the R+L=J is true. And for it to come into play, someone has to reveal it since Jon doesn't know it.

I don't think Aemon knew given his reaction to finding out about Dany and I don't think he would've left Jon at the Wall if he thought he could be the Prince that was Promised or Azor Ahai.

Bran can see through his tree powers that Jon was born at the Tower of Joy via R+L. Bran can tell Meera, Meera can tell the world/confirm with Howland.

Are pirates allowed in this one? It's all so confusing.

Reed absolutely has to know about it. Aemon and Benjen, I'm not so sure.

Damn, I was thinking this thread would be some huge reveal.

I humbly disagree. I know Benjen did, given the quote in the first season and how it followed the books. I think Benjen let Ned know that Aemon could be trusted with the knowledge. The vote we saw last episode sealed it for me.

Do we even know if Meera will make it out of the cave alive?

Why wouldn't she?, she's Jon Snow's twin sister.

I don't doubt that Aemon saw something in Jon and definitely suspected he was more than just a bastard of the North. I just have a hard time seeing him leaving him at the Wall, especially in his shape, if he knew. He was so excited to see the last living Targaryen in Dany. I think if he knew that Jon was who he was for sure, he would've stayed at the Wall as his council.

I mean we're already talking about the unconfirmed theory of R+L=J.

Meera and Jon Snow are exactly the same age, separated at birth between Howland and Ned. It is very possible. The only evidence she is not Jon Snow's twin is her eye color, and that pretty weak if you ask me.

Maybe, but him living through such a perilous journey was going to be 50/50 at best. I think he knew who the ruler should be. I have zero doubt Benjen knew and I think Aemon knew before Jon ever went to the wall. The scene while with the ravens cemented it for me as far back as season 1.
