How many people have reported guns stolen out of their truck? I read this board as often as anyone and can't think of just a few.

Well we at the OB can thank whoever took down the stickied "Today I had a gun stolen out of my truck because I am an irresponsible gun owner" thread that was 500 pages long, in such a timely manner. Dodged a bullet on letting that get out for all of the Poli board to see.

So. What do you do with it if you want one with you when on the road?

I am talking long term storage.

And if you are on the road, bring the gun in with you to the hotel room / house / etc. while you are away from the vehicle.

Right. But that still doesn't mean the vehicle should be considered secure storage. Risk / reward scenario.

Well then leave it in your truck for the small amount of time that you're in those places.

I think he's talking about overnight / longterm.

Are you just being difficult?

Your choice. I wouldn't want the risk of one of my firearms being stolen and used to commit a crime. But, we are all different.

I don't like leaving my firearms in a vehicle either.

However, considering each of us likely owns several guns and you are not bringing them all with you all the time there really is no safe option for storage that will prevent a thief from taking your firearms. Go check out the you tube videos of how easy it is to break into most gun safes. Certainly larger more expensive safes are more secure but they are not full proof.

Is this really what our society has come to...blaming people for having things stolen from them?

Here's a novel idea, scumbags shouldn't steal other people's shite!

And I am one of the biggest pro-gun people on this site.

I know a ton of gun guys and none of them share the concept of the "truck" gun I see so commonly on this board.

Or better yet actually have some meaningful punitive measures when these assholes do break the law.

Well then it's certainly not the "truck gun" I'm talking about. I've talked to people (not on here) who will admit to having a car/truck gun but when I bring up a CCL/etc. they go "yeah I need to look into that." I just don't get it.

from some legal standpoints it is better to not be ccl and still have a weapon in your vehicle and home. Especially if you frequent places that do not allow personal protection via 2nd amendment.
