He's more talented for sure.

I'm not sure he's "better" at this point. He has to be able to eliminate the negative plays.

Couldn't have said it better. Harris might have Jennings beat on pure talent, but no one on this board can say much else than that. Jennings knows the plays, works his arse off, and is a team motivator. I hope Harris matures this off-season and lives up to the expectations, but he hasn't yet. I don't care who starts as long as each is given a fair shot at the starting position. I expect this competition to continue all summer and probably into the first few games.

If you limit the posts on this board to factual statements directly obtained from coaches and players, it'd be dead.

First off, simma nancy.

Secondly, that was pretty much a statement of fact, notsomuch an opinion.

No he isn't. There is a huge difference in being vocal and being a team motivator.

I agree with this.

Yes, Auburn was a train wreck for Harris, but AJ didn't light it up either. Just one of those days where nothing went right.

But you shouldn't take that one game and quarantine Harris the rest of the season. Harris looked very good the other times he played, and looked MUCH better than Jennings during 2014 spring game.

Dumbest statement the rant has. It used to be "Miles will never start a freshman". Anyways both statements shown just how stupid the average fan really is.

Harris has not outperformed Jennings and y'all can believe this or not

Yes he has that is not even up for debate. Just on decision making alone. Harris was perfect with no sacks with the white team.

quote:

Harris has not shown the maturity and leadership ability that Jennings has up to this point. Harris does not have the respect of the players that Jennings has and that is a big deal. Harris needs to grow the f--k up and earn the respect of his team mates. Going into a huddle and not knowing the plays doesn't earn you respect as a team leader. This was what I was told by a parent of a current starter on offense for LSU.

I call bull shite. I bet this parent is Jennings mother.

quote:

Like it or not the Harris supporters on this board or anywhere else are kidding themselves. Harris simply did not apply himself and learn the damn playbook as he should have and it showed in game situations (Auburn) and in PRACTICE.

We are talking about ONE frickING GAME ON THE ROAD AS A TRUE FRESHMAN. Jennings knows the fricking playbook and we got our shite shoved in against ARKANSAS! Jennings hasn't had one game where we thought ok this guy is coming into his own or this guy has potential.

quote:

to think Harris is better is simply not true. He may get there but he isn't there yet. I think we are looking at two QBs this year and if one doesn't emerge as the clear leader the Felipe Franks may put them both on the bench.

Harris is better. Jennings has a year ahead of him and still looks as bad as he did in his first bowl game. It is time to cut our losses and fully focus on Harris. People who say Harris has not surpass Jennings are missing the forest for the trees. The whole point is that if Jennings was any good Harris would not even be a threat to taking his starting role. So why would we keep giving the guy who is in jeopardy of losing his job chance after chance.

If they are both so close just play them both and utilize both strengths. Harris can give you some read option runs

What is Jennings perceived strength according to the rant? Calling plays in the huddle and getting excited during Big Cat drills?

That's one way of looking at it.

Another way (my way) of looking at it is if Harris was performing to his full ability none of us would be having these competition debates, because there would be no competition.

I'm concerned that Harris has not completely left AJ in the dust by now. And I'm concerned with how he will react when he's finally handed the reigns and doesn't have to compete for the job anymore. Will he treat landing the starting QB gig as the starting point or the finish line? No one knows the answer to these questions.

Auburn counts...and BH stunk it up.....but you would also have to hit your head very, very hard on something to understand the gameplan/play calling in that game.

Our only shot at a NC this year is to let Harris fly and relegate Jennings to backup now. We've all seen enough. I'm really disappointed that Les hasn't stepped up and declared this already. So I'm convinced he is conflicted with what is obvious and what he may have promised Jennings thinking there was just no way in hell a QB could have played as badly as he did last year. It was a total shock to everyone, I think.

We can't do any worse with Harris but certainly won't do any better with Jennings.

Sure count it

HUUUUUUUUGE victory for jennings leading the team to 0 fricking points. but he did complete 5 passes for 86 yards.

He sucked. Harris Sucked too, but Jennings sucked. It isn't like he went out there and blew the doors off. he sucked just slightly less than Harris.

No look at games where Jennings played well and tell me Harris couldn't have done that. He makes throws to wide open Dural, or runs on a weak as frick A&M. but he rarely accounts for 200 yards a game. thats combined showering and rushing.

Harris has 28% of the yards, 54% of the TDs on 19% of the passing attempts.

I'm starting to get in on the thoughts that if Harris is so much better, why isn't he easily passing up Jennings? There should be a marked difference between the two when they are on the field, and I'm not seeing any separation by Harris.

I've said this before. If Harris cannot separate himself from Jennings it means he isn't as good as many here seem to believe.

Literally what have you seen from Jennings that makes you think he is better?

IMO, anyone who knows football could watch the Spring game and come away with the conclusion that Harris is the better QB.
He is quicker to make decisions, gets the ball away quicker, hits the WR in stride more often, makes positive yards on a broken play more often, and the running game seems more efficient when Harris is behind center.
Don't know what Les knows but its his team.

I agree...I was at the game and I dont think there is any question who played better. I really don't understand this notion that Harris hasn't seperated himself. Jennings is in his 3rd year, played in a couple of bowls and started all last year and HE hasn't seperated himself from Harris who Miles said at the end of last year throws it harder and is faster. I don't believe Jennings has a total grasp of the playbook either because if you watched much last year it wasn't like we were running a whole lot of different stuff. I think if your objective this isn't hard to figure out.
