I get you're point, and can rationalize it, but doesn't some of the onus fall on listener. It's says a bit about the listener if they are unresponsive to screams.
It has evolved to this point because the listener ignores and doesn't listen. How has the grievances? Who is the slighted? Perhaps the listeners should stop feeling offend (besides that one guy in the video, the movement isn't individually targeting people) and open up their ears to their fellow citizens.
By any means necessary is the by product of ignoring injustices for hundreds of years. Ultimately, who is the "blame" for that?

Think about where this protest took place. A university. A university is where ideas are sacred and where ideas are free. What these protestors are doing is the antithesis to what a university is about. You don't restrict the movement of your fellow classmates. You don't force to keep them out. You are preventing the free flow of ideas. That is unacceptable behavior. Again, your message must be commensurate with the medium. That is not what is happening here.

Yelling at college students trying to go to class for police brutality makes logical sense to you? I guess we should blame the victim of a drive-by shooting because they didn't listen to the plight and demands of the shooter.

I totally understand the idea behind the protest, but this was dumb. Have a protest line, but to physically [and verbally] attack students and not let them pass by in order to attend class is not the way to bring positive attention to one's cause.

Or, instead of breaking through enjoy putting on a counter demonstration..maybe have a couple of vehicles right up against the curb with loud speakers blaring some Sousa marches and a couple of big US flags. Use some Al Sharpton Special bullhorns and sing patriotic songs. Hand out support your local police pamphlets.
I give it about 5 minutes and the SJW's will resort to violence. Enjoy defending yourself at that point.

This. I've spent two summers in Point Richmond, CA, across the bay from San Francisco. Basically every county that touches the Pacific coast votes democrat, while every inland county votes republican.
