What was your experience planting this? How would I ensure clean ground for the birds to land in?

TIA

Yep, wooly croton.

We are thinking of doing a section in our field.

Goat Weed? Pretty sure it has to be transplanted or spread by cows to be succesful. If you do get it, about two weeks after it blooms (usually Oct) bushhog strips and if you are able, burn it.

Once you have it, you have it though. Every time you turn over the fields you will get new goat weed. Even if it was not growing there for 4 Years previous.

Dove City! I love hunting over that stuff in the Hill Country, it's almost unfair.

You can hunt doves in Goat Weed in the first split its just gonna be tough to find them after shooting them. And believe me the doves still land in unplowed Goat Weed. Now the second split in October after the fields have been plowed. Game on! I have had my best hunts over that shite.

Sure, but there's no reason to, as the seeds have not opened.
