Just have gotten into spearfishing the past couple of years. Anyone go to shallow water rigs or elsewhere in LA/MS and do any good? Mississippi is home and though my options are limited with its dirty water I'd like to find some hotspots offshore

I used to spearfish A LOT. Not as often anymore due to having multiple kids.
What all you want to know?

I free dive a good bit, though very little offshore. Mainly in Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas for catfish. Have done a few snapper trips to some close rigs

My spearfishing is limited to free diving stumps in Lake Maurepas for yellow cats

Just if you are actually able to free dive some of the shallow rigs and if it'd be worth it..I usually go free diving anywhere from 10-40' here on the big island. I guess in many ways diving around the rig is much more dangerous. Figured I'd try my luck around the coast when I get back

Like others, used to spear like crazy but with wife kids and career, rarely do now.

Never really speared while free diving though. Seems like a huge PITA.
