“It’s down to three schools, it’s Oklahoma State, LSU and St. John’s,” Madison Prep coach Jeff Jones told SNY.tv by phone on Sunday morning. “That’s it. It’s definitely narrowed down, and I would say LSU probably has the inside track, kind of being the home school. And St. John’s is right there as well.”

I'll take Sampson and Kasongo and call it a day. I've heard LSU was back in it strongly for him.

Yes we have 2 spots currently after losing Mickey and Martin. Technically we have 3 until Blakeney signs.

Has he moved up on 247 recently? I didn't realize he was in the 50 range.

I just made a thread the other day about getting Sampson and being down with this Newman situation and now this. Looks like I might get my wish. All Americans is good to have but getting good system players is even better. We have to protect our backyard.

No question Sampson would be big, if blakeney leaves after one year he will surely be a start in '16

Gray's not getting cut. Yeah he was bad at times, but not nearly as bad as people make him out to be. Without him we lose to WV and Arkansas. He shouldn't start, but is a great spark off the bench if our offense goes cold because he can get to the rim at will. He just has to learn what to do with it when he does get inside.

I'm not trying to bash the guy too hard but he lost us just as many games if not more than he won. You remember the home game against the Aggies?

Brandon said he has been contacted by LSU everyday since St. John's fired their coach. I hope we get him.

True, but he's probably our best ball handler and an asset against teams who apply pressure. Also it looks bad to get rid of a senior unless they are having off the court problems.

I don't know that much about Sampson, is he a good outside shooter?

I agree with all the posters above. Newman is not a point guard but a shooter and we have lots of those already. I think it is good to get a player who will not be one and done. Just think about 2016 if we got Newman and he was one and done with Blakeney and Simmons. We would lose those two guards, Gray and Hornsby graduate and Quarterman has the possibility of entering the draft. Bam all of a sudden we have Patterson and no one else.

You are allowed 13 scholarships. We have 8 coming back. So that left 5 to give and we have committed 3. So yeah, 2 left assuming no one else goes bye bye.

And Gray has real talent. Just gets careless and makes bad decisions. But we have no one else who can penetrate like he does from the point guard position. People don't realize that when he played well we won.

When he slows down and plays "routine" basketball, he is very valuable. Once he realized he wasnt going to lead the league in scoring he started playing a lot better.

He's ours then. If Ben is breaking it, he's ours.
