My Uncle had a '78 CJ5 with that 304 and a 3 speed, loaded with headers and a Holly 4 barrel carb.. That SOB went through anything..

They are definitely getting hard to find, and at a reasonable price. Took me about 2 years to find this one, plus it came with a spare for parts. Love this little zuki.

My favorites through the years:
Early Broncos, I had a 76 and 3-74's.
CJ 5's, I don't remember the years.
And my 2 current ones..

Love the old cj's. If it weren't for the amc 20 rear axle they would have been almost bulletproof. The old scout II Dana 44s were always a popular swap in them though, as were the early Bronco d44/9in.

International Scout. What could be better than buying a tractor and getting a free 4x4?

Toyotas made before 1985

79 Ford 3/4 ton. One of the baddest semi stock 4x4s I have ever seen.

Late 70s Ford 1/2 ton

Ford Bronco 75 and earlier

These were the easiest to get parts, most reliable and would go through just about anything.

My dads friend in high school had a beetle that he lifted and put mud tires on. Those cars were air tight so with big tires on them they would just float on top of the mud.

89 Tacoma or whatever they were called then? SR5?

But the absolute best would be the 72 Ford Bronco

Stick a late 90s Toyota drive train in it, small lift, and be ready to have fun

Land Cruiser 40, 45, 60, 70, 80 and 90 series, and it's not even close. They conquered the world's most remotest nastiest places. Jeeps aren't even a consideration. Jeeps are light to medium duty. Land cruisers are heavy duty (and rated as such). Just looking at a jeep's axels and springs will tell a person, that knows nothing about vehicles, which is the real deal.

K5 blazer would be second, but that 4 bolt main usually breaks something in the drivetrain. Land Cruisers are tractors.
