People do it all the time. Pick up a DuPont Registry magazine and pick one out.

He either bought a piece of shite, lied to you or the seller was a moron because those cars go for way more than $40k.

Here is a completed ebay listing for $39,995. LINK

You can also get into a V8 Aston for relatively cheap from what I've seen.

I'm considering an 07-09 911 Turbo. Can find them with < 20k miles for around 80k. I like the fact that you are getting a 50% discount and still getting a ridiculously fast car. Can get a manual too!

Or I might go with a M3 or C63 for around 40k.

Just looking right now. Probably won't pull the trigger for another 4-5 months.

There's a difference between a 2005 and a 2008.

Plus your listing had.

door handle on the passenger side is not functioning properly, just need body shop to fix, should be an easy fix
car sits very low, the front lip spoiler has scrapes and cracks from impacts with curb, still looks good in my opinion,

and 65k miles on it.

I'm not sure if I'll ever buy new again. There's so much more value in buying a used newer model with the big depreciation hit taken by someone else.

Sadly, a 20 year old Ferrari will be a dog performance-wise next to a new Infiniti. Well maybe not an Enzo.

Lately I've been wanting a Maserati gt convertible or a 911. Those are cars I could realistically afford one day, which is cool.

The gt convertible is a nice looking car. 0-60 at around 5 sec is pretty anemic though.

Porsche has one of the best CPO programs out there. My friend bought a 3 year old 911 when we were at LSU and it came with a better-than-new warranty. He paid about half of the MSRP and sold it a few years later for about $12k less. So 4 grand a year to drive a 911 as a college student. Probably the best road trip car I've ever been in.

Yeah I wouldn't buy it but was just pointing out that Aston's can be had for cheap. If I was in the market for bang for you buck used exotic I would keep an eye on the McLaren 12C. Buy it now for $156,500. LINK

If $40k is cheap for a 10 (soon to be 11) year old model that is a maintenance cost nightmare then yes that is cheap.

Love the lines on an Aston Martin though. Incredible looking cars.

One of my GTR buddies in Atlanta just bought and sold a Diablo. The market on those cars has been insane. his was the only 99 roadster made in orange. He paid $170k for it and kept it 11 months. He put an exhaust and clutch in it for about $18k. he sold the car last month for $350k
