What about what the black people did to their self? How they sold their own into slavery. That never seems to get mentioned by blacks.

I still can't understand why this is an issue? Blows my mind that anyone would judge Affleck on what his ancestors did or why he even gives a shite. It's been a loooooong time and one can either be proud of it or humbled by it. Whatever the case, it has nothing to do with us. What a bitch....

Because I'm sure they stayed because they were happy to do so, and it wasn't because there were laws requiring them to sign labor contracts with whites otherwise they'd be jailed. It was illegal in some states for blacks to own their own business, be employed by other blacks or own land and farm for themselves. This is after the Civil War.

It depends what time period, area and country you are speaking. But many prominent families like the Rothchilds had a financial stake. That's precisely why we DON'T want to "revise" history too much, as viewed from our air-conditioned 3000 square foot homes, it all gets a little distant from the realities of the period we are revisiting.
