I don't even think we disagree, stout. Pretty sure we're just talking about different sides of the same thing.

That's why I was asking about the license. If the guy is licensed and carrying insurance, then they'll do the investigation and fix it and the insurance will figure it out. If he hired three amigos and a truck, good luck getting anything done.

Yep but I don't find many licensed concrete guys which is why he is better taking it up with the concrete company. They already know it's their fault anyway and will just try to pass the buck.

I would try an acid clean before I get into a lawsuit though because it might work and costs nothing but a few bucks and some time.

It's a few branches from one tree. Every house in my neighborhood has tree branches hanging over the driveway, most more than me, and none of their driveways look anything like this despite being who knows how many years old. Mine is a month old.

And again, the key to the whole thing for me, how is that one area (the exact area where the concrete was different) remarkably untouched.

Would any type of cleaning not just be a temporary fix?

The contractor said he was going to research some type of cleaning.

Maybe and maybe not and it might even make it worse but at this point what do you have to lose?

In all honesty I would pour muriatic acid on a small section and see if that cleans it. If so make the contractor come back and do the whole thing and then apply a high grade sealer.

That is awful and I truly don't have a clue. My lawyer would be sending the concrete company a letter. As a contractor, I would be ripping that up after doing a few hail marys.

hear you, guess the core sample is what it might take, any idea of how much that is?

We used to charge a couple of hundred bucks a core back in the day. Say <$300 now.

That is a pretty well defined line. That's probably why they are skeptical. Have you sent the pictures to the supplier?

1) anyone claiming something other than an issue with the mix caused this is an idiot
2) how much concrete we talking about? You're not talking about much to tear that small amount out (doesn't look like much more than 20x20).

Well is the stain just on the top, or is it through the slab completely?

I would have a third party take a core sample and get it tested.
