Most of us in here probably have favorite EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and MLS teams.

But do you have a favorite club that's based out of somewhere like Bulgaria, Uruguay, or South Africa? If so, tell me why. I love this stuff.

I take it Borussia Monchengladbach doesn't count? They have a good history, but the vast majority of Americans have never heard of them.

River Plate. However, I don't get to keep up with them as much like in the old FoxSportsWorld days.

I just don't see the point in following a team out of the country if the quality isn't much better than the MLS.

I keep an eye on Anderlecht. I have a shirt of theirs from the 2001 season and an Ivory Coast shirt with Aruna Dindane's name.

And I used to wreck shite with them on FIFA 2000.

My dad was a big fan of Dinamo Bucharest as a kid, I'll check up on them from time to time. Damn you Steaua.

In all seriousness though, Rapid Vienna.

Studied abroad there in law school and watched them destroy Valencia. Been a fan since that day.

Not a really obscure club but I follow Cagliari Calcio pretty closely since I used to spend some months every year there and would go to a lot of matches. Tough times for the club right now.

Well, wm has won this thread.

Kaizer Chiefs for me in South Africa. It was the favorite club of a few friends I made on a mission trip to South Africa.

I love the section in John Foot's book "Winning at All Costs" detailing Gigi Riva and Cagliari winning the scudetto. And Rombo di Tuono has to be one the coolest nicknames ever for an athlete.

Is that Pier Angeli? That quote must be from Somebody up There Likes Me? I'm guilty of having never seen that film . . .
