You sure it's a box turtle? Looks like an aquatic turtle of some sort.

Yeah it's a baby gulf coast box. They do kinda resemble aquatic turtles when young, but they get that humped shell as they get older.

I had a number of box turtles as a kid and a number of eggs hatched. I never had any luck keeping the baby alive for any length of time.

We did find a juvinal turtle in the yard that had to come from a hatching. We put him in with the big turtles and he escaped pretty quick. Never saw him again. It was cool to see the female digging a hole and laying eggs.

I heard they ate dog shite, so I put one in my backyard which should have been like a Turtle Golden Corral, but he did not stay.

Geauxt, I noticed something this morning. It seems like you have at least one down vote on almost all of your posts. Looks like you have a stalker.

We used to feed our lettuce, fruits, ground meat, worms, crickets, small crawfish, they ate all kinds of stuff.

Box turtles are under significanf pressure these days, and their numbers are declining.

Recommend you release him back into the wild close to where you found him.

Pretty cool. Never seen box turtles with the tent shaped back. Usually they are oblong and round.
