I actually watched some the UT vs Sam Houston State baseball game last night. SHS shut them something like 7-0.

They showed a stat that Texas is now 7-17 when their opponents score 3 or more runs. WOW!

Cal State Fullerton is right behind them at 19-16 and Stanford is 14-20.

TCU should win the Big 12 easily.

Why has Texas fallen off so much in the past few years? Do these young kids no longer want to play for old grumpy Garrido?

Edit: Nevermind, I forgot they made it to Omaha last year. The last thing I remembered was their awful 2013 season.

i don't follow Big 12 baseball so I have no idea who should win the conference.....I just didn't realize how bad UT is this year. Their offense must be really bad.

Sam Houston is actually really good at baseball for a non P5 school. Their coaching staff came from Rice and they get a bunch of Rice transfers.

Regardless it's about time for Augie to go also. With the exception of making it to Omaha last year, UT baseball has struggled since 2009, for UT standards anyways. It's a new era for UT sports. Their long time coaches got complacent and stale and it's time for new blood.

Small point, but it was 5-0. And it's not like SHSU is a bad program. They're frequently a tourney team, and beat the bigger programs in the state with regularity.

As for what's up with UT, I don't know. Could just be baseball being baseball.

i kept thinking about Mack Brown every time they showed Augie. Is UT the most under achieving school in all men's sports given the wealth of talent in Texas?

They were one game from the final NC series in Omaha last year. Granted, that team way overachieved.

This reminds a lot of the hoops team. Top 10 pre-season then complete meltdown. But for different reasons. They just don't recruit the same talent lately.

I doubt Augie will be in Austin next year. Unless he's doing wine and cooking shows full time.

this says alot, because the big10 has been garbage in baseball for while. But, as of this and last season you could certainly make that claim for big10 being better.

2 years ago at the BR regional they split with ULL and gave LSU a scare with Nola on the mound.

Last year they made it to the regional final at TCU.

We're not talking about some scrub program here.

no they didn't. each of their long time coaches had one bad year (literally) and the fanbase is too spoiled to stand it.

2010 football - only bowlless season in Brown's tenure
2012-2013 Basketball - only NCAAless season for Barnes
2013 Baseball -

seriously... it's mindblowing that they can have those coaches with that kind of record and postseason presence and force 2 (probably 3 soon) out.

What is the deal with UTex? I only used it in the original thread instead of UT so no one would have confused it for University of Tennessee.

UT Football:
2010: 5-7
2011: 8-5
2012: 9-4
2013: 8-5

With the amount of football talent in the state of Texas Mack's last 4 years were inexcusable. Especially when you consider they hadn't lost more than 3 games in a season since 2000, he got complacent and left the cupboards bare.

Just because Barnes was making the tournament, doesn't mean he wasn't underachieving. With the money UT has and the high school basketball talent that is constantly leaving the state, they really should be up there with the blue bloods. They have a better coach now, they made the right move.

Augie is a huge a-hole that people just tolerate because he was winning. 2011 and 2012 UT baseball was really bad, and last season was really overachieving. I would give Augie at least one more season personally, but wouldn't shock me to see him gone this season since they have a new AD.
