City gotta do it. Could you imagine him and Mou going at it before a big game? Oh that would be great.

I like Pellegrini and think he should be allowed to finish the season out, but if he doesn't qualify for the UCL then he's gone. This would be a VERY sexy pick for City IMO.

He would likely bring in several younger, possibly cheaper replacements for the aging squad which is exactly what City need. A perfect mix of veteran and young players.

Sigh, if I only I wasn't having a wet dream.

Doesn't quite work that way, still got to find someone willing to take on some of those contracts, and in some cases may have to eat cash to get rid of players. Meaning less money to buy new players.

I mean I'm not saying City are going to win the UCL next year, but I think it would be a step in the right direction.

Danke Kloppo. I only wish that you and Buvac have a sucessful career. I love you, and will always remember my few times in the Sudtribune, watching the amazing teams you created.

Arsenal has everything needed to be a real European heavyweight except for a manager willing, able, and determined to take them there.

The only reason we can be European heavyweights is because of Wenger.

Exactly. How many top teams have been so hamstrung that they have had to sell their best players and yet still qualify for the knock out round every year? Can he be tactically stubborn? Of course he is. Going for that equalizer against Monaco at the Emirates was dumb in retrospect. The move to a new stadium was harsh, but needed for the long term viability of the club.

The continuity of the club and Wenger being the person who pulls the strings is frustrating at times, but he really does know what he is doing. Arsenal got as far as any other English team in the UCL this year and given our form now, I would venture to guess we would have had a great shot to make the semi-finals.

European heavyweights

Arsenal is VERY respected, but I don´t think they are considered a heavyweight. I may be wrong (I don´t know what your definition of heavyweight is).

ETA Just reread. My comment stands. They are very respected.

How so?

It might look to the outside observer that we could have gotten more in the past ten years, some of the squads we've had have been awful, and it's amazing that Wenger has stayed in the top four. Some of the squad problems were entirely related to choices he made, but he was limited by the stadium situation. For a long time the strategy was just to let Arsene get the team into the top four, somehow, someway. I don't think Klopp could have done what Wenger did, though I love Klopp as a coach.

Wenger has his flaws, but if you look at Arsenal and see possible European heavyweight, it's all due to Wenger.

For sure. We´ll see how the return leg with Atleti plays out. If RM gets by, and are paired with Barça, he´ll still be in the wings, and definitely in the running should the unmentionable occur.

I don't think Arsenal are heavyweights. My point is that Wenger is responsible for the possibility of the team entering that tier. The team isn't there yet.

It would be weird to see Klopp at Real.

Agreed. If I were him, I would want no part of that job. The level of delusion that exists among the board at Real and it's fans is off the charts. Carlo won the Champions League last year and still has a good shot at doing the Champions League/Liga double this year... and it looks like he might lose his job.

City would be the right move for him IMO. Better and more glamorous league. Great ownership group with unlimited cash. That incredible Etihad campus they're building. He speaks English very well. I just think what City has to offer compared to Real might be more of what Klopp is looking for in his next job. He would be great for the Premier League too. Such a fun, likable dude.

Issue is he won't have control. City has the old Barca team in there pulling strings. Also City can't spend all that cash anymore bc of FFP and their owners are shady as frick. The Youth Academy looks great but hasn't produced a first team player since the take over and even by the manager right now admission no one is ready. Klopp isn't the manager who buys big stars left and right.

I think City and Madrid are both bad fits. City's ownership is no different than Madrids very impatient and unrealistic expectations.

I agree he would be a great fit for the league but he needs to stay away from the cancer at City. He needs a place with patient ownership, good loyal fans and a strong youth system.

I think a big dark horse in all of this could be West Ham if they don't re-up Big Sam this summer. Amazing fans, top tier and proven academy and they are moving into the Olympic stadium which is about to send their revenue through the roof.
