I agree on Livingston, a great talent and distributor. Pete was a very good passer but Pete and Jackson are best known for their offense. Ethan was very good in the pure point role. Randy was highly touted and was amazing in his limited games before the injury, but was never the same afterward. For the younger guys, these four point guards have not been surpassed since. Honorable mention to Derrick and Torris, they were very good players.

If your talking about a true point guard who brought the ball up ran the offense got people the ball when they wanted and where they wanted it is Ethan Martin. Throw in his unbelievable ability to take the ball away from other point guards and jump passing lanes and if you want to actually have a team that played it would be Ethan E. If I had to pick my two guards on a team that actually would play a game it would be Ethan at point and Pete at the 2 guard along with Shaq, Bob Petit and Rudy Macklin. Throw in Greg Cook as your enforcer along with Howard Carter, Anthony Wilson for shooters off the bench along with Big John Williams, Stromile Swift and DeWayne Scales and of course the supersub Willie Sims and you have a team who could beat the all time UCLA and NC teams!

I agree Rudy40, LSU clearly doesn't have the record of the all time great programs, but I would put LSU's best 12 guys against anybodies best 12.

After Pete, my favorite pg was Derrick Taylor. He and Ethan Martin were better defenders than CJ and controlled the tempo of the game better than CJ. They also could count to five.

CJ not really a "point guard" per se . He took that "position" on the court , but was out there to score. He did make the occasional fabulous assist ... I was there for Ethan Martin, and he was a true distributor who could penetrate the lane too.

In addition to Martin's distribution skills, he was also a very good defender. Averaged a couple of steals per game during his career. Best pure point guard LSU has ever had.
