Man, that thing dragged along and was quite predictable. I had higher expectations and was disappointed.

I will say that Farrell is an underrated actor. Despite the film, I thought he was good. There were several LOL moments including the restaurant scene. "A fookin bottle...?"

The second time I watched this was on a date. She definitely didn't like it because she thought the humor was in poor taste and I left thinkninhabe my the movie was not near as good on the second watch.

I loved the banter, but I never finished it - moved like molasses in winter.

It just didn't meet my expectations. It was a solid flick; I just didn't think it was mind-blowing, and the dwarf that played "Jim" was just awful IMO.

Understood that you're disappointed based off so many people's love for it.

I am one of those who loves it, but I see where your'e coming from. Have you tried the director's other movie, Seven Psychopaths?

Despite the film? In Bruges is one of the finest movies I've seen in my life. Seriously. Everything about it is great, from the interplay between Gleeson and Farrell, to Ralph Fiennes criminally underused comedic timing, to the very atmosphere of the movie itself. Not to mention the story, which is well told and well paced, both comedic and tragic, exciting and contemplative.

Farrell is a very good actor who gets shite on. He is absolute money as the vulnerable, young man with no direction in life. Gleeson is always fantastic. Always. In Bruges is a movie that simply gets it right. Sorry there wasn't more bang, bang, pew, pew for you, but perhaps if you gave it another watch in a more contemplative mood, you would enjoy it more. It is not at all an action flick.

And you're entitled to your opinion. I tend to disagree. It was good, don't get me wrong. I'm just not seeing the masterpiece that others do. I really couldn't get past just how awful Jim's character was. I may be putting too much into that, but he kind of ruined it for me.

You mean Jimmy? The dwarf? The a-hole?

Just couldn't buy that he was a dwarf. He didn't sell it enough. I saw a man acting like a dwarf. Poor acting job

ISWYDT But...

I guess simply being a dwarf solidified getting the role. A lot of his scenes seemed forced.

There is nothing about the movie I do not love.

I love their date in which they agree to tell the other what they do for a living, and actually tell the truth.

"I shoot people for money"
"What sorts of people?"
"Priests, children... ya know, the usual."
"Is there a lot of money to be made in that business?"
"There is for priests. There isn't for children. So what is it you do?
"I sell cocaine and heroin to Belgian film crews."
