DT: Al Woods (4th round 2010)

Umm Al woods is currently on a 53 man roster.. Plus its hard to label a 4th round pick a bust lol.

God Damnit this again. I'll say it again. IF YOU ARE A 4TH ROUND PICK--IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE 100-130 BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE--YOU SHOULD MAKE THE OPENING DAY 53 MAN ROSTER.

If you do not, then the team screwed up royally and you deserve to be called a bust.

If he made the team and was crap and got cut 2 years later, he's not a bust. If he didn't even make the roster, didn't even get called back to the practice squad, never wore the team's uniform after August, yes you're a bust and I don't care what any of you say.

Perhaps, but I feel there's a difference between a bust and a player just not panning out. Expectation. A 1st rounder is more disappointing than a 4th rounder.

Wow psycho you really need to take your meds this morning. Let me call your mom and tell her to make sure that happens. I really don't give a shite what you've said or how many times you've said it. Are you the only person who can post on this board? Turn off the caps lock and take the gun out of your mouth.

So a 4th round pick took a little time to develop? Wow like that never happens... Like I said he's currently on a team and there have been much worse picks that would actually qualify as a bust. Yea we used a 4th round pick on him but we didn't trade picks away or waste money on him for years. Pretty sure a player that wastes your money for years and gives no production would be considered more of a bust then a guy who just didn't fit your system and found work elsewhere. Your logic is awfully flawed.

Also by this flawed logic, no player that has ever made the roster can be a bust?

I can't wait to see you yelling bust at SJB in a year or two.

LB Les Kelley (1st Round 1967)

He's kind of a two-fer.

26th pick overall, was actually a RB at Alabama, once the inept Saints got him in, they saw he wouldn't be an NFL RB so they tried to convert him to LB. He was on the roster until '69 but never started a game for the Saints (or any other NFL team).

The worst Saints Draft Choice never even happened:
The '67 first overall pick* was foolishly traded by the Saints to Baltimore for QB Gary Cuozzo who didn't finish the '67 season as the Saints' starter (replaced by Billy Kilmer). Cuozzo was gone to the Vikings for '68.

*Bubba Smith is who the Colts took at #1 overall with the Saints' pick. Bob Greise, Gene Upshaw, Alan Page, hell, even the old Head Ball Coach were all available in the '67 Draft. It was admittedly a thin draft class in retrospect.

You're not even listening to me. A 4th rounder or higher is expected to make the roster. If you're a 4th rounder and you have some degree of promise, you make the roster by default. 4th rounders are rarely cut year 1 because it's embarrassing. You have to be hopeless.

For a 2nd round pick, I'd argue that to be labeled a bust you barely sniffed the field and never or rarely came close to the starting lineup. So, yes, SJB would be a bust if he doesn't get any worse.

I would argue like this:

1st: Never really made a contribution or was really really bad as a starter.

2nd: Short career, little contribution, never came close to starting

3rd: one-year player, never saw the field

4th: never made the roster (my 3 4th rounders meet this criteria, I believe, unless Vaughn made it one year)

5th and beyond: Not really a bust. I had to put Tennant at C and Mehlhaff at K because there aren't any other choices (unless as one person suggested you put Erxleben at K and P)

I don't think Toles should be included - he had a nasty knee injury in a time when that was a career-ending event. He was also a backup to the best linebacker corps in NFL history.
