Chairman of the Thibodaux City Council...Search threads for Chip Badeaux. Shoot all you want! Although it's illegal and they are counted as ducks towards your limit, it's just a misdemeanor.

What is the correct name of these. I always heard them called Mexican Black Bellies?

i don't mind having them around if they taste good, but if they mess with my wood ducks, they are asking for it.

Black-bellied whistling duck is formal name. "Mexican Squealer" is what you'll hear most people say. "Squealer" is what you say with disappointment when they hover over your blind at 3 mph staring at you. We did shoot about 10 this year and ate them. I thought they were decent.

Absolutely, we killed 7 opening morning in NELA, and I see them on the Red River in NWLA often.

We kill a few every year out of Abbeville. If you drop one out of a group, hunker down and reload, because those dumb bastards are coming back to check on their buddy.

Wait, I was specifically talking about Fulvous. I've seen a thousand Black-Bellied Whistling ducks that are not squealers.

That was after the second arrest this year for using lead shot while hunting illegally due to his probation, right?

Which part was me talking out my arse? I never said I saw 1, but they're certainly native to North America.

I use to have a lot of woodies under my deer feeder and in my wood duck houses. The whistling ducks have run them off and taken over. Saw 3 of them walking around and whistling near the bank so I started whistling (short high pitch). They started walking toward me to within 10 yards. Wish I had had a shotgun. Who has eaten them?

Oh and the whistling Ducks on Lake Arthur say thanks for all the nesting boxes. They moved in and the desired duck moved out.

Mexican Ducks are thugs

Yes, they aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. You can usually wipe out an entire flock on multiple volleys. Sadly, ours are usually out of here by big duck season.
