Big one here: In the times you've spent with Greg Sankey, are you optimistic that some of the things that you've specifically pushed for, namely football scheduling, will get a thorough review or do you think a lot of these things are going to be business as usual?
A: I've talked to him about my priorities, one of my top priorities is that we continue to be able to play night games in Tiger Stadium. I'm not real high on permanent partners but having lost that argument numerous times I told him the most important thing when it comes to football scheduling is that we play night games at home and he understands that. I'm sure he'll work with our TV partners to try and get as many night games in Tiger Stadium as possible.

Wonder why they didn't ask him about the Chavis situation?

Alleva hates LSU.
He hates Baton Rouge too. A lot of people don't know he was the civil engineer who spearheaded Baton Rouge's road infrastructure. He planted the seeds long ago to ensure the system would never accommodate 150k people on campus to get home under an hour.

I would trade night games to not get screwed in the scheduling. But that's me.

I'd imagine the ongoing legal battle refrains him from discussing it to the media.

I say keep losing that argument until somebody starts to listen. Permanent rivals does not benefit the league as a whole but rather a few member institutions. It's favoritism plain and simple.

I am with you. I love night games for LSU.
I have come to terms with The University of Alabama being treated as the Alpha Dog when it comes to SEC football. The schedule will go their way. No sense whining about it.
Certain powerful people have advantages than others based on wealth if entitlement. The SEC does not cover it up. It is for all to see.
Kentucky basketball is treated like royalty too.
Life is not a game of fairness. You make the best life for yourself and pray that you don't get screwed too many times.

auburn-UGA
Bama-Tennessee
Kentucky-State
Ole Miss-Vanderbilt
Arkansas-Missouri
You could make an easy case it benefits every school but LSU, Florida, South Carolina, and A&M. Each AD has one vote, so it doesn't matter if Joe Alleva was a Rothschild. there aren't any swing votes to be won. state and ole miss would never vote against abolishing their permanent cupcake

Are these big time rivalries that I've never been aware of?

Did you even read the rest of my post?
Why in the hell would Ole Miss and State vote to end their permanent matchups with by far the two worst football programs in the conference? We're talking about schools 50 years removed from their last SEC football title. they're not going to vote for a more challenging path to Atlanta.
Arkansas and Missouri from a geographical standpoint makes perfect sense, and it has the makings for a good rivalry down the road

Who, besides LSU and maybe UF, unequivocally wants to get rid of permanent opponents? That's what matters. LSU/Alleva represent 1 vote out of 14. Not that complicated.

Never said it was complicated.

Then why don't you understand that what LSU wants (concerning permanent opponents) doesn't matter if we're the only one that wants it?
Posted on 4/8/15 at 3:16 pm to MountainTiger
Well it already had the explanation as to why Alleva could never even bribe those athletic directors from switching votes

I do but that doesn't mean I'd stop fighting for it.

quote:No but they have 0 incentive to push for change because it assures all 6 of those schools an easy game each season (with exception to a couple of decent seasons schools like Ole Miss or Arkansas can string together every half century).
