Need a set of earbuds -- must be able to hear on airplane

I'm shopping for a set of earbuds to be my one and only set of headphones.
I'm tired of carrying both a set of Bose noise cancelling over ear for use when I am travelling and a set of stock earbuds for everyday use or when taking a call.
My basic requirements are:
Must work with iPhone for phone calls
Must have 3 button inline control
Must be able to hear music/audiobook/podcast while on a plane
No charging -- this means no bluetooth such as Jaybirds are acceptable
Must be very portable -- if I'm going to make a change, I'm ditching that thick Bose package that I carry daily in my backpack and reclaiming some space.
Bonus Requirement:
Tangle-free cord. I think this is probably never going to happen though
From my research I'm thinking Shure SE-215 or SE-315 or Etymotic HF3. Anyone have any other recommendations? I'll hang up and listen.

I fly about 60 to 70 flights a year. I found ear buds eventually hurt and the flights areso loud that you have to pump the volume up dangerously high.
I went to a set of noise cancelling Bose headphones. Much more comfortable. Almost all outside sound is eliminated and I can hear clearly without cranking up the volume to levels that could be damaging.

Bose is overpriced midgrade like Beats.
Go to an audiophile website and read.

I have a set of powerbeats, I actually really like them, can wear them all day without discomfort. The cord is a little longer than most which I like, plenty of slack if it is in my pocket at the gym.

He is right, though.
All the ultimate ears IEMs are good but you'll pay 200+ for them.

Klipsch Si4
Find a variation of Klipsch and you will be very pleased for $100 or less. A bit bass heavy in some models but these are some of the best value on the market. I have had a pair for about four years with zero issues.

I have a set of Shure 215 with the 3 button cord and they are nice. Earbuds are about getting a really nice proper fit though or you will hear all kinds of racket.
When I cut grass, I still find myself still putting on my old set of Shure earphones with foam ear pieces, they seal so good I don't even hear the mower and can keep the volume reasonable.

I've had a couple of pairs of Klipsch in ears and they were serviceable. I think my first big jump from crappy ear buds was to Klipsch, and then up from there.

Klipsch is a value play for the money. $80 gets you a solid set of buds.
Of course you can go up the price range to $200 or so and get a pair of Shure's that will have better sound quality.

I ordered the Shure SE-215 and iPhone 3 button cord to go with them. My first flight with them is next week so I'll let you know how it works out.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I've used the Shure SE-215's for two weeks now and so far so good.
I did spring for the iPhone cable and bought a set of Comply tsx-100 extra comfort foam tips for them as well.
I flew with them last week and I was able to hear the audiobooks and music I had on my iPad perfectly using either tips, with the stock tips performing slightly better for noise isolation. The Comply extra comfort tips worked just about the same in terms of comfort, but let just a tad more noise in. For anyone interested I would skip the upgraded foam tips and stick with the stock ones.
My only gripe with them is that the noise isolation makes phone calls a little weird sounding because you only hear your own voice through the noise isolation. Think of trying to talk to someone in a normal voice while wearing ear plugs as an example.
In short, I'll be leaving the bulky bose QC-15's a home from now on and using these exclusively, but I will stick the iPhone stock earbuds in the case with them to use for long phone calls.
Thanks for everyone's input.
