Any of you OT Ballers using Hoka running shoes? I had them recommended by a co-worker. Just looking for some additional opinions.

TIA and for your troubles

I am old and I've been running for 30+ years. I tried them because I was starting to have more back and knee problems. I did not like them. They felt too "clunky" for me and I never got used to the extra height.

Ran about 40 miles in them and returned. Felt awkward with the huge cushion. I'll stick to my Kinvaras

50/50. Half the people love them and half of them hate it because of the reasons already listed above. I hated Newtons so I never even gave Hokas a chance. Saucony Kinvara's and Type A5's for me!

I love my Hokas. I have the Stinsons for the trails
and the Cliftons for the road. I can really feel the difference in my recovery after a long run with those on. They are a little awkward at first, but once you figure them out, they're like running on clouds. I had worn Brooks the past couple of years and loved them too. I tried on the Hokas at a preview run and I doubt I'll go back.

Tried some on last week through a Hoka sales rep. They feel like pillows but they're clunky. He said they would last 25% longer because of the thick sole. I didn't buy them. I just think they're a fad like the vibram toe shoes were.

If you don't have a perfectly neutral strike, a wedge will build up in the sole and become unstable.

I still love my vibram's. wear them everywhere. excellent for the gym and treadmill. have actual running shoes for running outside on a trail.

Don't know nothing about Hoka, but all I run in is Brooks and Saucony.

They look ridiculous, and I have a hard time believing that that much cushioning is good for your running form.

My professional advice- save your money on the running shoes.

Use the money on a gym membership. Grab a barbell. Do squats, deadlifts, bench. Do sprints for cardio.

Better workout, better results, less knee problems, less looking like a skinny fat bitch.
