My mother in law gave my 4 year old son a 22 inch older model flat screen and we have Apple TV and fire tv in the living room and our bedroom. With the older model tv we would have to hook up a streaming device with rca plugs. I just want to put something where he can watch netflix to watch kids stuff. Is roku 1 and 2 the only devices that use rca plugs?

Check the WDTV Live lineup; I think they've got an option or two with RCA outs.

Or, alternately, just go with a Roku 1/2. I think they're probably the best of the streaming media players that have analog connectors. Or literally any Roku non-3 if you don't mind used stuff and want a possibly slightly cheaper deal.

ETA: Nevermind. The WDTV Live dropped Netflix support a while back. The only other boxes that will have analog outs are probably lesser-known Android boxes. Roku is probably the simplest/best bet.

Find an old Wii instead. It does Netflix and is analog. Might be just as cheep on ebay and probably more responsive than an old Roku. Plus you have a Wii for him.

Yes, but make sure it is the Wii that has internet. My daughter was wanting a Wii after playing with her cousins and some friends, so when my mother asked what she could get as a birthday present, I suggested that. They're pretty cheap now, and I was thinking I could let her watch netflix on the playroom TV on it as well. Mom buys her some newer red version and it doesn't have internet connectivity. I still have an older bluray that can stream but I was wanting to put that downstairs and replace it with the wii for streaming.

Roku 2 definitely has them. I used to have an older TV hooked up this way.

Roku 1 does as well. I run HDMI to my outdoor TV for video and sound through the TV, but run the composite audio back to my receiver inside since it requires analog inputs for zone 2.

Works really well for that purpose

D-Link DSM-310 MovieNite and the other various models, offer this. It's very limited (Netflix, Pandora and Youtube are about it), but definitely offers RCA outs (I have one hooked up this way myself).

You can find them very inexpensive used and refurbished, here and there.
