Thinking about heading out of town for a quick weekend trip either Friday or Saturday - Monday. I don't want to spend more than $500 or so if possible for accommodations. It's a little late to be trying to plan something like this since it is Easter weekend and all, but I thought some folks here might have some suggestions. I could do beach or woods so no real preference there. I am not sure if I want to hit another city.

Drive to somewhere in Florida. Sleep on the beach. Spend the $500 on gas, food, and alcohol.

Went to Pensacola a few weekends ago, just stayed downtown and didn't even hit up the beach, but it was a good time.

Memphis is on our list for a future weekend getaway. You could hit up Houston/Dallas/Austin/San Antonio in that amount of time as well.

If we did this we would just wind up staying at my MIL's house. I like Pensacola a lot, but we are there frequently.

Go to Hammond or New Orleans, get on the Amtrak(get a decent seat/room). Get off in Memphis, stay at the Peabody, do the downtown thing, eat BBQ at the Rendezvous.

Why not? It's better than going to Hammond or Holly Beach.

The Myrtles in St Francisville is cool for a night but it would be pretty dull for a whole weekend. Maybe head up to Natchez on Sat?
