I've been looking.... wow. 4 year old FX4's with 50k miles are bringing 30k+ Unbelievable

How many miles is too many for trucks these days? ie would you buy a truck with 70k miles? I only drive about 10k a year and my last truck made it to 165k

I've bought a f-150 with 100K miles and it still ran great and I never had trouble with it, but I was on a much smaller budget.

With a 30K budget I'd go for the lowest miles I could find, and would be open to other packages than just FX4. Just looking on Cars.com there's a 2010 ford crew 4x4 with 54K miles in your price range.

The price of trucks is retarded these days. And I'm going to need a new one in about a year

Tundras can be had for a steal for some reason.

Good trucks too.

I found some 2013-14 crew cab Z71 between 31-33k the other day on carmax.com. Trucks are pricey as hell now, sucks because my yukon is sitting at 242k miles, so i will be needing a new one in a year or two.

They cost so much because they're so much better than they used to be.

100k miles is nothing on a decently maintained 2003+ truck of any make.

True words. The last WAY longer than older trucks. Cars too for that matter.

I'm approaching 100k on my '11 Sierra. Hopefully I can get $20k for it in another year.

I wouldn't buy a used truck with less than 100k. They get a lot cheaper once they hit 6 digits and still have tons of life left.

I've got 162,XXX on my '08 Silverado 4X4. I wouldn't say it rides like brand new, but it is still pretty damn nice. When I got rid of my '05 Sierra Z-71, it had over 240,000 on it and still rode like a Cadillac. I only got rid of it because the engine started ticking occasionally like a bad lifter.

Long story short, they last way longer than they used to.

This is true. Stooped to look at a 2011 F250 KR at a dealership with 79,000 miles. They wanted $39,500 for it. I literally asked the salesman, "Are ya'll insane"?. He answered, "These trucks are selling like hotcakes, some young kid will buy it".

I spent $14k on an 04 2500hd LT 4x4 6.0 with 100,000 miles with the expectation that I was gonna have to put between $500 and $1500 to get it like new. I knew the drive train was solid, and just paid cash for the thing. No reason to get an expensive truck when there are plenty of cheaper ones that are just as good.

Plus, it is nice not to have a note. My truck is nice enough to take out, and it sounds like you need something like that. Start looking in TX for good deals

Eta: I replaced all front suspension and steering parts, did a complete tune-up, put in a new CD player, and all four speakers for like $1000

Do you have anything to trade? I was in a similar situation and opted to buy new ('14). There are some awesome deals with Ford right now on 14 models. I had a decent trading piece in an 07 Yukon with 129k on it and got 13.5k for it. If you can haggle at all, there are deals to be had.

True... but I would still get the best extended warranty they offer.
