Very smart man. If the draft grade is too low, he will be back. This man knows what the extra year could mean plus the exposure of playing a year with Simmons.

His dad came out yesterday and said they haven't made a decision and that they would get their evaluation back before making a decision. He said if they had a good draft grade, he would leave, otherwise Mickey would be back.

He does think Jordan can improve his stock with workouts so we are hoping he gets a late 2nd round grade not early 2nd round....

Mickey’s father, James Wright, said Tuesday in a phone interview with The Advocate that while they filed the paperwork to obtain an evaluation from the NBA, no decision has been made despite the tweet posted by Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com.

“That’s not a true statement because we don’t know,” he said. “We don’t want Tiger Nation to think we’re out of here. We’re not leaning either way … we want all our teammates and fans to know that.”

“We going to weigh the options and see if it’s something that can benefit him,” Wright said. “Once we get something, some hard information, we can sit down and look at it as a family. Then you can base your decision off something you have.”

“People probably didn’t know, but he wasn’t as explosive as he was earlier in the season,” Wright said. “Jordan kept quiet because he wanted to do what he could for the team. Both ankles were banged up, that’s why he couldn’t jump.”

“Jordan loves his teammates and would like nothing more to continue to hang out with them,” he said. “At this point, he has to make a business decision. If he didn’t pursue the information, he would be doing an injustice to himself.

“If things come back and it’s in his favor to go to the NBA, we’ll be some of the most excited people on the face of this earth. If it doesn’t look good to go, we’ll be as equally as excited to go on this journey again next year and try to go farther than we went this year.”

He was interviewed in the NOLA.com site and newspaper about 4 or 5 days ago and said all of this. Said he would not go pro if his draft status was too low, he would then come back.

I had no idea one of our former receivers was his father. Must have had him when he was only a few years old!

Isnt this pretty standard protocol?

James Wright, JR is his half- or step-brother.

Their dad is James Wright, Sr... Nice joke.

This is probably good news for LSU. I know the NBA drafts on potential. IMHO, Jordan needs to work on his jump shooting, free throws and defense. He will never be a 3 point shooter at the NBA level, but if he can knock down the 10-18 foot jumpers and improve on his overall defense...he can play in the league. We all know he can block some shots at that level and probably rebound if he stays in position on D.

I remember how his dad handled the clearing house issues when Jordan came out of Prime Prep Academy (I believe a transfer from DeSoto HS in Dallas) and being very impressed. Seems like a smart person that is helping Jordan make good decisions. I certainly think his play over the last month hurt his draft stock and would like to see him back next year. He certainly needs to improve ball handling in traffic. He had several turnovers late in the season trying to put the ball on the floor in traffic. Wish him the best regardless of what he does.

Hope you stated this in jest. If not , guess what? Jordan Mickey and James Wright are step brothers.

Yes clearly just a joke. Had no idea of that though, just thought it was a funny coincidence.

Hopefully they've got some more relatives that can play

idk how to feel

I want the best for Jordan, as he is a Tiger. If he can get early 2nd round money then good. I don't want to actively root for him to not get drafted high

even though he won't most likely..

South, what kind of grade do you predict Mickey is going to get?

Not to be a stickler, but he was actually at Arlington Grace Prep, with Isaiah Austin, Emmanuel Mudiay and Karviar Shepherd. Once Austin graduated, the other three took off to Prime Prep

But I have met his dad and he is a very respectable person and always tries to keep Jordan's head on straight, so them taking a step back to look at the evaluation isn't a surprise to me.

And for the guy ragging on Mickey for not being at Martin's announcement, you're a douche and an idiot

Here's to hoping JM is back for one more season!

If not, best of luck to him and his career.

ESPN's Chad Ford just came out with his top 100 and Mickey is rated #68 which is outside of the 2 rounds of an NBA draft. 2 un-named LSU sources are saying Jordan's draft grade is "not encouraging" for Jordan to go pro.
