Exactly. It's quite common to bet on....well, everything. Haven't read the article so I can't comment on it, but if betting on sports is illegal, I know damn near 100 players who would be screwed. What a shitty rule.

Are they saying that gambling is addictive and it could lead to him betting on baseball?

I haven't read the article, but logically betting on any sports with a random bookie would be a cause for concern. What if he gets in a huge hole betting on NCAA basketball? How does he get out of it? Maybe by influeincing a game he actually participates in later.

False. What happens in one game affects personnel usage in future games of other teams

whoever is saying we can't bet is really wrong. We can bet on anything like normal people, just not anything to do with baseball.

If you bet on a game you have nothing to do with it's a year ban. A game that your team is involved in is a lifetime ban on the spot.

Is fantasy baseball banned? I would think so.

However, I know there are football players who play fantasy football (obviously different governing bodies, so it could be a sport to sport thing).

All MLB needs to do is have him turn over all bank and CC statements. If there are no deposits to back it up they let him walk, if there is punish him. It's easy.

ETA: I just saw this:

Of course the articles I read made it seem like this guy was screwed, it looks like this is a non-story.

I don't think so but I think they suggest to just skip it? I don't think they know what to do with DFS

Probably the same or more strict with DFS. I can't imagine they want you betting on players for money. It will be interesting to see how they classify it.
