It's terrible you had to see that.

A few years ago, a presumably drunk driver crashed into a power line on my cousin's property. He heard it and outside and the guy's car was crushed. He couldn't get the guy out and he ended up burning to death before the jaws of life could save him. It fricked with my cousin pretty badd.

Sorry you had to see that, but these things happen in life.
I'm more interested in your transected aorta from a mva. People usually bleed out from those injuries in seconds. Did you crash into a trauma surgeons operating room?

You obviously did the right thing. You'd have to be a dumbass to stop in that specific situation and put your daughter at risk. My daughter and I were in a wreck 6 months ago and she is still shakey when traveling.

Tragic story

So sorry u saw that. I was on the interstate about 10 years ago and saw somebody walk right out in front of a car going at least 80. I was two lanes over. It took me a few weeks to get that sound and image of him flipping in the air out of my head.

I Saw a guy get hit like that on I-10. It knocked him right out of his shoes and socks. Killed him instantly. What was worse is the girl that was with me had a brother that died when he fell out of the back of a truck going down I-10 in Ms. He got ran over multiple times.

I've often half-joked about my macabre penchant for walking up on /witnessing death in the last 4 years.

I'm grateful none of my children were ever with me.

I guess the positive of this would be she will be extra careful crossing streets and likely share that info with friends. Her witnessing that may save a life.

Hopefully he will. My understanding is that many head wounds look life threatening because of all of the blood.

I was actually hit by a car that ran a red light in college. I don't remember anything, but the police report has a statement from a car at the light who said they heard the "pop" and when they looked up, they saw me flipping in the air. About a week later, I was at the bar with some friends (road rash, broken jaw, and sore as hell) and a girl they knew asked what happened. Apparently she was at the intersection and saw the whole thing. She thought I was dead. I guess the point is, sometimes it's not always as bad as it looks.

Update: it has been the leading topic on local news in Lexington. So far, he is surviving at UK Hospital. My daughter wants to write him a letter to encourage him a recovery.

It is being reported he was catching the busLINK

Me and a buddy got hit by a car while crossing Burbank on a 4-wheeler. From the witnesses, it looked terrible. Only a couple scratches. Closest I've ever come to death.

How did this happen? Did you not even look before crossing? I've always wondered how people just pull out in front of other vehicles and what not. Cars are not small, they are hard to miss.

Driving here in San Diego, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Pedestrians here cross the street, crosswalk sign or not, red light or green. They don't care. Yield to them in every situation.

I was crossing well after the light had turned green. Several cars had gone through the intersection. It was a 4 lane intersection and the car in my case came from the other side of the cars doing about 35 mph and didn't see the red light apparently. I remember seeing a silver car to my right. Don't even remember pain or anything after that. Just coming to in the ambulance with my jaw hanging off to the side.
