Really doesn't matter to me much either. I want deep talent at our QB spot and time for the talent to develop, which comes from the depth.

I am just curious if this was a move in response to our sentiments on other QBs or if this offer was well intended. This would speak to our staffs opinions.

I say this means they don't have high hopes of getting the other guys. With that said, this might be the best situation for LSU, interestingly enough.

The mobile qb needs to end. That hasnt worked for us ever nor do i predict it being successful in the future. It is ridiculous that some of you are still trying to bargain for the "mobile" qbs. The reason that we were beaten by some of these teams is because the system that they run requires them to have a mobile qb (with the exception of bama) and the "system" that we run is not suited for a "mobile" qb it is suited for a pro-style guy with an above average arm as we have seen in the past this has been the formula for success and cole has some of the same traits as met. Enough with the mobile qbs

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I'm saying I would rather a QB who can get the ball to our playmakers for sure (Mettenberger type) rather than one who has some mobility but can't complete many passes (Jennings). I would love to have a mobile QB who can sling the ball around and still have the ability to run if need be. I also never said I didn't want Kelley. From what I've heard (never watched him play myself) the kid has a big time arm and is a smart decision maker. You're saying that I don't think the kid can throw the ball because he can run too. Not even close. I said I want a QB who can make the throws we ask of him even he can't run, rather than a mobile QB who can't make these throws. I didn't say that Kelley couldn't fit here. I do think that the transition from running a spread to running an I formation can be difficult to transition into, and I'm not the only one. You can see this by how ESPN constantly wonders if Marriota is going to be able to transition into this style once he makes it to the pros.

Ok, but we aren't even recruiting just a running QB this year. We arent even going hard for a true dual threat. Every guy we are recruiting is pass first. You do remember Mett as a redshirt junior was pretty bad right? That's after learning at UGA, a year playing in JUCO, and a year to learn the offense. Who's to say Harris or Jennings don't turn the corner this year?

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are a dying breed, we need pass first QBs with enough mobility to escape pressure.

Best QB we had in a very long time had NO mobility. C. Kelley is actually a more mobile version of Mett imo.

so since jennings hasnt worked out as well as we would have liked him to in cam camerons offense some people believe we should just stop recruiting mobile qbs? its one frickin recruit that hasnt panned out...so far. another mobile qb may end up being just the right fit for his offensive scheme. let cam cameron run the offense and get the players he thinks will be most effective. let the man coach. wasnt directing this post to you btw just sayin.

Well you must not want Kelley then because guess what he runs in high school? The truth is there will be a learning curve for any quarterback coming out of high school whether it's a spread, pro style or old school triple option offense. The key is finding kids who smart & willing to come in & work hard extremely hard to develop themselves at the position. There has to be talent there to begin with from a physical standpoint first & foremost but the desire along with the intelligence must be there for it to all come together. All this other stuff about athletic types vs immobile types are a bunch of bullshite.

Would be nice insurance behind Franks

Cole Kelly would not be nice insurance behind Franks, he quite possibly beat Franks out. Kelly is a very good athlete and I like the fact he plays Basketball, would think this will help with quick thinking and reflexes which we are missing now.

Before you award Franks the position actually watch both QBS film and watch closely and then judge.

Franks is a very good athlete but his throws on film look off and the WR's have to make adjustments to catch the ball.

Crowning a QB a starter in college before his senior year in high school is almost impossible.

I think Cole Kelly will start and be a success in College. I think LSU want him and I hope he stays home
