Not surprising, nothing of value was lost.

Was it really expected? We picked up Byrd, Champ, Lorig & Goodwin (or was he the year before). I do not recall us losing many FAs to other teams except for Jenkins & Moore.

Moore was cut and didn't count. We lost Jenkins, Brown, and DLP that I remember. Goodwin was signed after the window.

My count last year was 3 or 4 both lost and gained but I'd have to double check for sure.

We won't get compensatory picks next year either. All we lost were Patrick Robinson, Travaris Cadet, and Tyrunn Walker.

We signed Brandon Browner and CJ Spiller

I didn't list him because he was cut.

I did a quick look and I think it was 3 lost and 3 gained within the window. I think I said last year while we were waiting on signing Goodwin that it made no sense to wait as we signed too many guys anyway.

Walker and Cadet don't count as they were untendered RFAs. Only true UFAs count. Cut or traded guys don't count either.

Why do you always have to correct me a-hole

Thanks, now that makes it even worse. We lost 1 "starter" and gained 2 "starters"

But yeah long story short we sign way too many UFAs while letting too few go to ever qualify for picks.

It's basically a choice of do you want to keep Ingram and add Spiller and Browner vs. do you want to roll the dice in the draft with 3rd and 4th rounders(or maybe worse 5th and 6th rounders). The Saints like to go with the sure thing.

Let's say for instance we let Jenkins go last year would you rather sign Byrd or get a 4th round pick(at the end of the round). It's not like these comp picks are great value. They start at the end of the 3rd and few get picks that high. It means you lost a really good player to get what could be a career backup/role player.
