At Academy today and saw they sold them. Was thinking of buying one but didn't feel like dropping fifty on it today.

Anyone used/own one? Been catching fish lately and got the itch for new stuff.

Those white handled knives are purty good...they aren't $50, either.

Only messed with a large stiff bladed one. It sucked for fish.

Got one as a gift. Seems really well built. I can't use it for shite, but I blame user error. I simply clean fish better with electric.

I got a bubba blade as a gift. I really enjoy it. I only freshwater fish so bass / sac / catfish are what it has cleaned. I like it better than dexter blades because I like the handle of the bubba blade. It has a good sharp blade and it's easy to touch up when needed.

I've heard that the teflon coating they use will flake off with use. . . they have a large thread about them on the hull truth that may give you some more insight.

I've used Dexters and they work great for half the cost; assuming these will be used on fish, get a 7-8" filet knife for the specks and a Tiger edge for the tougher fish.

I usually just use a filet knife for stuff I catch at house. basically quick cleaning for bass that swallowed hook or a few sacalait now and then. I hate breaking out electric knife for just a few fish for lunch.

I've got the 12" serrated blade and the 10" filet and I like them both. the grips are very comfortable. I have the hands and wrists of an 80 year old and I can clean about 25-30 decent size fish before I start getting pain and cramps. I can't say the same for my cutco knives.

(one day I'll step up to an electric knife)

I have one. No complaints so far. I've only cleaned reds and trout so far with it, and it seemed to cut well through both

8CR13MOV steel... So, yeah, good marketing. The same steel a lot of cheap folding knives use.

I've got both and I love mine. They keep a hell of an edge and when they lose it, you just have to hit it a few times on a stone and it's right back. I have zero complaints and clean fish and use it in the kitchen as well.

I own both and highly recommend them. I notice in the responses everyone who owns one recommends them. Everyone who doesn't own one or have direct knowledge of them recommends the dexler. Interesting how someone can not recommend a product without ever trying it.

It's cool if you like bubba blades. It's not a bad knife. Probably better than most cheap working blades. It's just not as good as other knives in the same price range.

8Cr13MoV is cheap steel. This is a fact. This is also why you don't see these blades in kitchen or market environments.

I don't have to try a Bubba Blade to know it's not as good as Sabatier, Henkel, Shun, Wustoff, DR etc. Same as I don't have to go drive a Scion to know it's not as refined as a Porsche.

I've read nothing but good things about it.
