Big 12 is the easy answer but they didn't lose a 1.

Big 12 easy...they could go 3-7 with 3 three seeds and 1 two seed.

Big East

Those dumb fricks thought they were a far bigger deal in the sporting world than they actually are. Leaving the rest of the the AAC was a stupid mistake and will be what leads to them eventually becoming irrelevant.

Time to start poaching some of those Big East coaches off.

Stability of their league in question long-term. Jamie Dixon can be had and maybe Jay Wright. Who's gonna hire them away?

Big 12.

For the Big East, Nova was bad. However, they won a lot of toss up games in the first round.

Yeah, leaving behind Memphis and Tulane will really hurt them.

roll your eyes all you want but the BE is going to be on a downward trend from here on out and dumping out on the extra conference exposure from the football side is going to be the cause.

Come again?

The AAC is the conference that will become irrelevant in basketball.

In fact, it's record in this tournament was 0-1.

They won a fluke title last year with Connecticut. But in reality, UConn and Cincinnati will do anything possible to get out of that conference. Possibly to the Big 12? We shall see.

Either way, the AAC will become a joke in basketball. That's exactly what teams like UConn and Cincinnati are worried about.

big 12 should have done better on this first weekend for sure, but it just didnt have any true contenders.

strength of the conference was its depth and the fact that half the conference was tournament caliber.

You are being short sighted mi amigo.

Conferences with big time football are going to eventually squeeze out the ones that don't have it.

They will eventually dump the NCAA and get their own bball tourney. When that happens people will gradually start to view the leftovers as playing a lesser tourney not worth watching.

The AAC and to a lesser extent the MWC are the only two that have any shot at eventually joining the P5 b/c of their connections with ESPN. Also, having Navy and Air Force will aid them in the long run b/c the P5 will want to avoid Congress getting involved in college athletics at all costs. This is partly why the SEC has decided that Army now counts as a P5 opponent in football.

BE signing up with FS1 and dumping the true money driver will wreck them long term.

Not any time soon, buddy.

And any tournament to decide the national champion won't shut out the likes of Georgetown, St. John's, Marquette, and the other traditional basketball powers in that conference.

As for the basketball aspect of it, this article talks about the worries UConn and Cincy have moving forward in the AAC. Schools like Tulane, UCF, USF, East Carolina, etc. aren't just going to suddenly become basketball powers because they play FBS football.

such an apologist. 2 seed not a contender, please tell me more.

It's the sweet 16, not the final 4. Get this contender shite out of here.

Kansas was really not a contender to win this basketball tournament.

Suddenly no. Over time? Yea, they will be able to get much better. SMU is proof positive at how quickly a school that actually puts in the effort can turn things around.

You might think its not going to happen soon but I bet within 15 years the NCAA is essentially dead and the P5 plus whatever other football playing conferences they allow to come with are going to start doing it all on their own.

Again, we're talking about just advancing to the sweet 16. No contenders to even muster that?

Just because they have football?

Teams like South Florida were forced to get better in the old Big East, because literally everyone else was good, and it was by far the best basketball conference in America.

The AAC got one team in this year. There isn't exactly pressure for the East Carolinas of the world to start producing NCAA Tournament caliber basketball teams.

People have been saying this for nearly ten years now, yet there have been no real changes towards it happening. Northwestern players tried to establish a union. Big deal.

No, we weren't.

I don't know how you got that out of his comment.

By the way, Oklahoma is about to advance to the Sweet 16 right now.
