Sorry, but I'm going to fish close to boats.

I had left out some buoys marking tops on the river one day to go check some other spots. When I came back there was an old dude there (I see him all the time) who got mad because I was fishing about 150' from him. He got pissed and started cussing, so I just trolled over, picked up my marker, and cranked up right beside him. Tried to throw water in his boat when I left. Since then I've seen him several times and he just waves.
Now boat ramp etiquette . . . don't get me started

Not this one. I'm sure if I asked you nicely to move more than 2 feet away, you would move, be moved by me or kicked out of the marina. People really should use manners. You don't throw lead right next to a $3.2 million dollar boat. Moving 10-20 feet isn't asking much.

Exactly. You kinda get nervous with idiot tourist casting at it. It's black so it's not like white paint or gelcoat. It scratches and chips very easily. One chip or scratch costs about $1000 to fix. You have to mask off most of the boat and blend in the paint, not just fill the scratch/chip. We have fixed several chips/scratches from fisherman with no common sense.

It's a fricking boat, if you use it, it's gonna have cosmetic flaws.
Posted on 3/23/15 at 11:23 am to Sparkplug#1
All of that begs the question, why have that paint if it chips so easily and is so expensive to fix?

Don't fish by my boat....

I wouldn't physically move you in a violent manner (I'm not an Internet badass or IRL). I'd move you with they way I already described. If you kept coming back, you'd have to wait about an hour for the mud to settle. Can't people just get along and not be assholes? You would really put your boat 2' from another boat, to fish?

This. I think he just wanted to not so subtly brag

It's a yacht and supposed to look flawless.
It's painted black because that's the color the owner wanted it, and it looks badass. It's a pain to keep up, but that's the yachting world.
It's not my boat, I just run it. It's my job to keep idiots from fricking it up. I'm not an a-hole and one of the most laid back captains you will ever meet.

You are being a bit naive about this. Watch more fishing. Especially Major League Fishing. At least one tournament was won pitching right at docked sail boats.

I just let people be. If you want to fish right next to me fine. If it messes up the fishing I'll just move. I want to relax on the water, plenty of other places to fish.
Asshat this weekend was fishing in the marina and was annoyed when we idled by. Said we should have went behind him. Its not my fault he changed direction as we came up to him. As in he went from one side of the bayou to the other. After he threw his line in front of my boat and told me I should have went around, I went wot for two seconds. Also, he was outside of the no wake zone and I was at idle going by him. Well untill he spoke up.

They are tourist renting from the marina. The marina rents them the yaks. The marina will tell them to stop if they see them fishing next to the boats. I don't do that, I just ask them to move a little ways back (10-20').
Many marinas won't let you fish, and the marinas are full of sportfishers. I've been a professional fisherman for over 20 years. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
These yakers are boating (holding on to the hull at times) and casting less than 2' away. Not many people are going to like that, period.
You can see the boat in the Saintsations calendar. I think it's September or August.

My dad made me take a boaters safety course when I was 11 or 12...should be mandatory IMO
