watch imitation game next. second best behind whiplash

The Imitation Game was soooo generic. Not necessarily a bad movie, just by the numbers, no creativity, no risk taking.

Just blah. Like A Beautiful Mind.

when I think of renting I think of radio shack, blockbuster, etc. I guess redbox is renting but the term just brings me back to the days of old. Also, no I have never redboxed. I've been a torrent thief for a long time

If that's what you call what you think you saw, I guess. I thought the cinematography style was pretty sweet. So did the Academy. Also the editing was awesome. The transitions from scene to scene were really cool.

Neither has yet to interest me enough to watch but if I had to pick one to see it would be Birdman.

Dude, you have to see Whiplash, too. It's really good. I just liked Whiplash like I liked maybe Cast Away. It's just a simple plot type of movie. It's VERY well done and has some of the best music scenes I've seen in a movie, but I just think it was too simple for me to put acclaim on it. Birdman has a lot going on underneath the surface. Just my preference.

I was the same way with whiplash until I saw the 14 minute short the movie was based on. It's a great movie.

You're saying Birdman wasn't shot with a lot of handheld style camerawork?

But his cinematographer, Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki, 50, who won an Oscar in March for Gravity, reveals to THR that the longest take in Birdman actually lasts about 15 minutes, and most are in the 10-minute range. That still involved a lot of sleight of hand on the part of Lubezki, who shared camera operating duties — mostly a combination of Steadicam and handheld shots — with Steadicam operator Chris Haarhoff.
