Fred Hoiberg to the NBA?

From Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
It is widely — and I mean widely — believed throughout the league that Fred Hoiberg, whose Iowa State Cyclones were bounced in the first round of the tournament Thursday by UAB, is the top choice of the Chicago Bulls to replace Tom Thibodeau in the event that the Bulls and Thibs indeed part company at season’s end
@kevinarnovitz: There's virtual unanimity among NBA people that Fred Hoiberg is a born NBA coach. "Runs pro sets. Knows pro game. Born motivator," says a GM

I've been hearing Hoiberg to the Bulls for weeks. Thibs is good as gone.

On the flip side, with Thibs's defensive expertise, he could build a powehouse in college if he were to go that route. His biggest knock is running players into the ground in 48 minutes over the course of an 82 game season. That problem could be masked with 40 minute games in a 35ish game season.
Defensive wizard coaches can be great in college without the talent of the top programs. See Tony Bennett.

I don't think Thibs has the patience to deal with college kids or the will to recruit. He's not a people person.
Fifteen teams will be lining up to hire him in the NBA.

Why would the Bulls get rid of Thibs?

You wouldn't think so, but would you think Jim Boeheim is a people person who has the patience to recruit? He's an arrogant prick.

Conflict with the Bulls Front Office.

True. He's been a lifelong NBA guy. No doubt he could succeed if he wanted to go to college.
Bulls management is at odds with him. He got pissed when they traded Deng and ran off assistant Ron Adams, management doesn't like his authoritarian ways.

He's from ames, played there, all his family is there. There's no way he leaves ISU. The same rumors were going around about him and the Knicks and warriors a few years back.

Chicago is a much better coaching situation now than NY has been since Hoiberg has been brought up for any NBA job. That would be a hard job to turn down.

I don't see him leaving. He begged for that Iowa St. job.

I don't see him leaving until he leads Iowa St. to a National Championship.
