OUr 6-7 guys are gray and Malone.

This team is right where they're supposed to be.

I agree with what you're saying in principal. But there were still way too many games we had absolutely no business losing and way too many glaring coaching deficiencies for my comfort. I like Johnny and it's obvious were improving, but the premise of your thread is pretty dumb. No one that isn't an idiot is placing this game squarely on Jones.

I'm 100% behind JJ, but let me give the obvious counter-argument.

A loss in the tournament can happen to anyone, it was the constant losses against the bottom of the SEC that were a more alarming sign.

I hope the team next year is as good as we hope it can be.

LSU is a sleeping giant. If we were serious, we'd load up an armored car full of cash and dump it at the coach of Wichita State. We aren't. We won't. Hire cheap and hope for the best. The LSU way.

I felt similarly but then I read an article about the other suitors chasing after Marshall that have been rebuffed

Hoiberg - 5 years at ISU, 4 NCAAT appearances , 4 wins in tournament

Drew (took over a program that got a defacto death penalty) - 13 years as HC, 5 tournament appearances, 8 wins in tournament

Jones- 15 years as HC, 3 NCAAT appearances, ZERO wins

I don't know if I'd really compare Jones with Hoiberg and Drew. At least they've got "skins" on the wall in March

both got bounced with more talented teams
How many players, if any, are more talented than M&M? TQ? Do they have 3 7-footers sitting on the bench?

this. I would fire Jones and replace him with one of our assistant coaches. Chances are they have a pulse and don't freeze up during games.

I was at the game on Thursday. JJ can't go out shoot foul shots. Fatigue had set in but we only need 3 or 4 foul shots to ice the game. That is stamina and some of these players obviously don't have it yet. The only real issue I have is that JJ didn't call a TO after NC State set their offense with 13 seconds remaining.

Some times LSU loses and it falls on the players

If there's a problem with one player all the time or all the players one time, it might be a player issue. When it happens with all the players all the time, it's probably not. Losing games by having no offensive game plan and missing free throws at the end has been a recurring problem all season involving practically all of the players who have seen major playing time.

Robinson not panning out hurts us so bad

This must just be a "fan" thing, because iirc Jones said when he came in that he was going to be a guy that they had to develop. And several times during the season Jones said he and the coaches were pleased with ERIII's progress and felt he was a guy that would pay dividends as a So. Jr. and SR.

Did fans have an unrealistic expectation for him, because Jones seems pretty clear on his expectations.

What hurt us was Odo not panning out, and Malone not transitioning more effectively.

You don't want Scott Drew, he can recruit, but he is one of the worst basketball coaches out there. If BU had Drew only recruiting and an actual decent coach on the bench then BU has at least one Final 4 appearance back in 2010. The teams he has had have been much better than their results.
