Do you think we trade a player on draft day?

I think we have done this in the past. I know there have been talks about us not being done making deals yet. What are the chances we move another player on draft day or even trade one of our picks for a current player. I see all these posts about what we will take or what we think they will take with our first picks, but if the Saints have proven anything it is that they are unpredictable with the picks.

Anything is possible this off season.

I hope we trade for a player (Ladarius Green)

Brought this up to a friend the other day. Would not be mad.

Had not thought of him. I would like this as well!

I may be a biased homer, but this would be a great move (assuming we don't trade a crazy amount for him). He'd be the tight end version of colston

Why would the Chargers trade their future TE with Gates starting his decline?

I never said it was likely. Just that I'd love it. Plus, it's not like this coaching staff drafted him. Maybe they want to go in another direction. They seem to hate playing him even though he has produced when thrown to.

Would not mind getting him at all. Would the Chargers be willing to trade him and what would we have to give up?

Being that we are only about a million under the cap and need more to for draft picks and such we are going to have to trade or release another player. I expect a team that misses out on a guard in the draft to trade for Evans. There's also a possibility he gets traded during the draft for the same reason.
Nobody else is going to save enough money to sign the draft picks so one way or another something is going to happen to Evans.

Would love to get Green...
But San Diego really values him, despite the fact that he's still 2nd fiddle to Gates. They know Gates will start to slow down at some point in the near future. And they know what they have in Green. TE is a huge part of their offense and know that whenever Gates hits that drop off, Green will be able to step up and won't miss a beat from Gates.
But he is a FA next year.

I haven't heard that they're interested in trading him. It's just wishful thinking.
But maybe on draft day they'll need picks and they'll see him as a luxury that they're willing to cash in on for a few mid round picks. The fact that they never use him tells me he wouldn't be completely off the table imo

I hear this, but if they really value him then why not use more two tight end sets? It's not that far fetched. Considering the Patriots used it with gronk and hernandez (lol).
Btw, sorry for sort of hi-jacking this thread

No worries Hazelnut. I don't post much anyway. I honestly had not thought about Green. Probably would not happen anyway but it's a nice thought. I'm just ready for this draft. It's been a while since we've had so many picks to play with. Should be an interesting draft for sure.

The Vikings were in a pretty similar situation as us in last year's draft (10 picks total, drafted at 9 and 31) and only needed $3.2m to sign picks. If we have $1m available now, post 6/1 cutting Morestead would put us pretty close to that range. A minor restructure could free up some space during the season if we have the need to sign someone at more than the vet min. Not saying that we won't cut/trade Jahri, but less drastic measures can be taken.

Whatever happens I feel like this draft will be very entertaining for Saints fans.

No I hear you... Not sure why they don't try and get him on the field more.
And in the preseason, I remember hearing how they have certain packages for Green and how he will split out a lot with Gates as the TE on the LOS. And didn't see any of it.
And actually played less snaps this past season than he did in 2013.
Guess they don't use 2 TE sets that much
But from everything I've heard and read, they really value him and think it would be tough to get them to trade him. You would have to overpay to get them to trade Green.
But he is a FA next year and Gates contract is up that year as well. Curious to see what they do with that situation.

I agree. We'd have to really want him and be in the right situation in the draft where the chargers are desperate to be able to get him for a reasonable price. So, it's a pretty unlikely senario imo.

He strikes me as a guy that will resign with them. He's young, they're telling him he's Gate's successor, and lives in San Diego. Seems like a pretty sweet deal. But who knows, maybe he's getting tired of waiting and won't want to resign with them.

I was just looking at a chargers message board and saw this thread. I didn't really read through it all yet, but it's fitting for our discussion. It's purely speculation on their part though.
