I wouldn't touch Jaelen Strong. He obviously has body image issues if he feels the need to wear calf bands and bicep bands. And he played for soft arse USC.

This deserves some sort of dumbass post award!

was slow as shite at the combine (4.70), but came back and ran 4.47 at his pro day. Very intriguing

I don't even care about his 40. He's huge. When you watch him square up to the ball, there is no chance for a defender to get around him. And, he catches it away from his body.

Brees would turn him into a very productive receiver immediately, and we need someone who plays that role now that Graham is gone.

I meant Nelson Agholor. I just flipped the names around. They both have the faggy bicep/knee bands and attended soft football institutions though.

What the hell does this have to do with playing football?

Everything. They are more concerned with accessorizing their average physiques than playing football.

Good thing NFL scouts, coaches & GM's aren't SEC homers like you are.

I don't think it's just any coincidence that the Saints have been one of the most finesse teams in the league the last 5 years. And it's because they habitually draft and sign players from soft college football programs.

Ever heard of Jerry Rice? The guy had an infatuation with having his uniform absolutely perfect. Didn't stop him from becoming the greatest to ever play the position.

quote:

Wilson: "My locker was next to Jerry's, and his locker would have his jersey, pants, towel and socks laid out on the floor. He would try five pairs of pants before he went out on the field. I'd say, 'Dude, what are you doing?' I had one pair of pants for the whole season. He was very meticulous about his routine. You never saw Jerry with his jersey hanging out, or one sock halfway up and the other not."

DeBartolo: "You've seen that TV show, 'Intervention'? Jerry was obsessive-compulsive. He had to have everything just perfect - tape around his shoes the right way, his shirt tucked inside his uniform pants the right way, the numbers lined up the right way. He was nuts. ... But it made him comfortable and it made him happy."

im just saying, a 4.70 guy, you're kind of limited to where you can line him up. his usage increases with his speed.

starting to get on the Jalen Strong pain train.

also saw this earlier. I know some have been down on our WR's but this chart is sort of encouraging ( I guess).

quote:

Drew Brees still had his moments of dominance last year, and two of his receivers had very low rates of failed receptions. Marques Colston finished second in 2013, so that's not surprising. Speedster Kenny Stills will try to complement short-pass catcher Jarvis Landry in Miami now. Consider him a cheaper version of the old Mike Wallace the Dolphins thought they were getting two years ago.

look about half way down the page.

I guess that includes DVOA. I don't know.. Football Outsiders are some odd mother frickers. Tons of charts sorting out all kinds of shite.

I'd feel real good about bringing in another big WR like Strong. I mean Colston is getting old and Toon is still well.. we have the speedster Cooks and now have Spiller coming out of the backfield.

Funchess ran the 40 in about 4.5 seconds at Michigan's pro day last week -- the school announced his time as 4.48 seconds -- and answered some of the questions about his speed that had lingered since a less-than-ideal showing at the NFL combine last month.

If someone has this problem...it's probably not a good sign. Then there are the guys that have this problem and still triumph...I call them overachievers.

Another interesting guy is Dezmin Lewis(central arkansas):

6'4" 214

He ran a 4.41 at his pro day:
quote:

Lewis improved his 40-yard dash time from 4.58 seconds at the NFL Combine to 4.41
seconds at the UCA Pro Day.

quote:

STRENGTHS: Sports an athletic frame with good muscular development in his upper body. Savvy route-runner who varies his release and gait to create slivers of separation. Soft, natural hands to pluck the ball outside of his frame. Good awareness to avoid the first defender after the catch, showing some wiggle and a burst. Good recognition of the sideline to get a foot down in bounds. Smooth accelerator, though his top-end speed is a question. Good awareness as a downfield blocker, though he could show greater physicality in this area.
WEAKNESSES: Lacks explosiveness as a runner and leaper. Relies on deception to sneak deep rather than possessing the top-end speed to challenge over the top. Doesn't consistently use his size to his advantage, mistiming his leaps and pestering rather than controlling opponents as a downfield blocker. Lacks the shiftiness and acceleration to generate much yardage after the catch and does not have the speed to pull away.

Projected around the 4th round

He had a very nice senior bowl

quote:

Central Arkansas senior WR Dezmin Lewis "had an outstanding week" at the Senior Bowl, noted NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah.
"I had a chance to talk to him before the Senior Bowl, and he told me, 'They're going to know who I am by the end of the week,' and I've got to give it to him -- he was outstanding," Jeremiah said. "He's got good size at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, but also is very smooth for a big receiver and can be a good route runner." The 6-foot-4, 212-pound Lewis is a "natural pass catcher," according to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline, who reported that, coming into the season, Lewis was receiving middle-round grades from scouts. "He wins out battles and displays run after catch skill," Pauline wrote. Scouts Inc. wrote last week that Lewis "showed really good body control and ball skills, doing a great job of adjusting to passes and making several acrobatic catches throughout the week."

Yeah he would be another good fit. The reason I left him off is he would kinda be a reach in the 3rd but probably won't still be there when we pick in the 5th. So since we don't have a 4th round pick I left him off the list.
